I don't think that's quite correct. It's more the fact that you can eliminate the impetus to have to be pin-point accurate while aiming, and can concentrate on shot placement and maintaining the shot-string. The 'skill' isn't in the shooting, but in the reading of the engagement; do it wrong and you will lose almost every fight. You have to know when you are in an actionable position, and when you are outgunned to succeed with any AR. Generally, they are just fun guns to use. I main a hand cannon 90% of the time for precise, exacting gun fights, because that's what I enjoy. But when I want to have some fun and blow off some steam, I pull out the Monte or Shadow Price and do a few matches (or an entire IB).
They aren't hard to use. They are hard to succeed with. The only kills a noob will get with an AR are clean-up kills, and you can do those with a rock.
