I wish they could just torch the meta, reset balancing back to the alpha state, and use what they've learned to tweak it because pre-launch to early Vanilla was to me the time the Crucible felt the most universally viable. It also helped that at that time they hadn't driven away the casual playerbase yet; now all that's left are the guys who dive into the meta headfirst and live and breathe PVP. There's no going into Crucible to just enjoy yourself anymore because one guy in the lobby will have a god roll Grasp that tears you to pieces.
Pulse rifles are the new handcannons, automatic scout rifles are the new auto rifles, handcannons are in an awkwardly varying spot, scout rifles are scout rifles, and auto rifles are the mentally challenged cousin who can't quite keep up.

You're romanticizing the early days. The only reason this seems true is because the game was fresh, and a lot of bad people were playing. Plus, SBMM has us competing against much better opponents. The weapon balance is the best that it has ever been right now.

I think you're forgetting that pulse rifles were horrible in vanilla. They were as bad as auto rifles in HoW

Yeah they were.

This would screw over fusion rifles though, they are in a great spot right now.
