The warlock who wouldn't die :Crucible campfire stories:

A hunter, titan and a warlock were out on patrol one night defending the city against any and all threats. Bored and sitting around the campfire they had made to keep warm they decided to swap tales of exploits in the Crucible. Naturally the hunter is quite the bragger, spinning numerous tales of triple, breaker and even the occasional slayers with the almighty golden gun or how they mastered the dashing art of blink shotgunning. The titan countered with his mighty hulk smashes onto control points and the tears of the dead guardians they had shoulder charged into oblivion. "How about you brother?" said the hunter to the warlock. "Surely you have tales of getting yourself sniped off resurrection" he said with a sneer. The warlock lowered his drink and said "Allright here's your tale" The hunter and titan leaned forward in anticipation as the warlock cleared his throat. "It was a pitched battle of control inside the Iron Banner arena. Both teams were evenly matched until suddenly a loud clank was heard. It was a titan wielding a hammer of pure solar light that burned whatever it touched." "Sounds OP" said the hunter. "Quiet" said the titan, obviously enjoying where the story was going. "This titan burned every guardian in his path. Warlock, hunter, titan, it didn't matter which they all burned into ash in his light" said the warlock. "Rumor is even Shaxx himself got a permanent burn scar from this titan." "Anyway with his flaming hammer and seemingly impenetrable solar armor he quickly tilted the balance of the battle to his team and only through guerrilla tactics and guile of capturing the zones he wasn't attacking did the opposition keep the score even. As the score limit drew near everyone's nerves were on edge. Suddenly Shaxx's voice boomed "Heavy Ammo available" The titan knew now was his chance as the enemy was near victory. The heavy did not frighten him due to his armor and was reinforced by the experience of living through a hunter's rocket blast earlier in the game." "Summoning his mighty hammer he let out a battle cry praising his fallen mentor Lord Jenkins and rushed to the control point chasing a warlock who would soon feel the crush of his hammer. Around the corner he ran and threw his hammer true at the warlock who had summoned a spell of his own that gave him wings of pure fire." "As the warlock fired his machine gun at his foe the hammer struck the warlock with such force that it exploded in a blaze of fire. The titan stopped and checked his kill feed in confidence that he had killed the warlock and began to set his sights on another victim. Suddenly out of the fire remnants of the hammer explosion came the warlock, battered but still alive thanks to his earlier preparation of covering his armor in a substance that increased his solar armor and learning a spell that decreased the damage he took. The warlock levelled his weapon at his opponent's head directly at a crack he made with his first two bullets and continued holding the trigger as the titan stood there dumbfounded. "How??" he screamed as he attempted to summon another hammer but it was too late as the warlock's shots found their mark in the titan's skull to score the winning kill" The hunter and titan looked on in amazement at the warlock who resumed drinking from his mug. "Impressive but it's just a story" said the hunter finally. The warlock finished his drink and stood up. "Is it?" he said as suddenly wings of fire sprouted from his back. The titan immediately knelt on one knee. "Praise the sun it's true!" he declared. Tell me does the hammer still exist? "Sadly no" said the warlock. Shortly afterwards the hammer was declared too powerful for any titan to wield so it was locked away deep inside a place called the Vault of Glass. Rumor has it though the real reason is that a titan accidentally came too close to catching Commander Zavala in a compromising position with Eris so it was nerfed to teach the titan order not to be too nosy. Come let us get back to the night watch titan and I'll tell you all about how my grenades used to actually burn people alive in their armor until one day Ikora had her database stolen and the knowledge was lost forever. As the warlock and titan walked away the hunter slowly finished his own drink and rose to resume his own duties. After checking to make sure his compatriots were out of sight he slowly opened a hidden pocket in his cloak and pulled out both a photograph and a flashdrive. Chuckling he said to himself "I'm glad I got that shit nerfed"
Thank you for reading my story and to this day I still imagine that titan standing there going "WTF??" as I tanked his hammer and killed him lol. Edited for spelling errors
