If that happens, then don't approach the same spot too many times. I know it sounds tedious, but it's what I do, and it usually works well if I can approach from either a different angle or even a different route entirely. Many top tier players do this as well. All I would say is practice being able to locate snipers more quickly. Maybe even try sniping yourself just to know where they might be sniping. I used to think snipers were annoying too until I learned the patterns they use. Best of luck to you.

  • Dude. I already know all of this but the fact entire gameplay styles have to made to counter snipers means it's OP.

No it doesn't. If that was true, every gun would be OP since you have to adapt your playstyle slightly for nearly every scenario. I suggest you to focus on one thing every day that you can improve onto help counter snipers. Maybe one day you should work on using vertical space, maybe another you could work on closing the gap. But condemning a type of weapon as being OP won't help you counter them.

  • That's the thing slight, if I'm fighting a team full of rusher I have to use the gap to my advantage. If Im dealing with two guys who are engaging only 1 v 2 fights I either have to stick with my teammates, or focusing on picking off one at a time. But with a snipers you literally have to canoe every aspect of the strategy to using emotes to peek around corners, sneak around the map and focus on flanks, using vertical space which means you have to move fast enough to not get shot by the reticle which is hard because AA sticking to you and the list goes on. That isn't slight that's massive hence why I use the term OP

  • I still can't agree with calling snipers OP. I usually don't use the 3rd person perspective to counter snipers, but I find that if you peek, you have to come out fast at an unexpected height/angle. If you counter snipe or use a weapon that causes lots of flinch, you should win the engagement. I wouldn't call snipers OP simply because I have to avoid them constantly. I'll admit, I still die from them. But not nearly as much as I would if I didn't take precautions. It's the same as shotguns, you just have to assume that your enemy has the optimal special weapon for every scenario. Otherwise you'll find yourself dying from snipers constantly all the time, which would be very frustrating. You have to apply what you know about avoiding snipers in EVERY scenario that you find them, not just sometimes. And if you do something to avoid them, maybe you could improve? For instance, maybe you're using vertical space, but you might be staying in the air just long enough for them to snipe you. As a sniper myself, I find that even 1 second is more than enough time to make a vertical adjustment to snipe someone. Apply these practices religiously, and maybe you won't die from them as much. Watch good players like RealKraftyy or TrueVanguard, they all use these principles to avoid them or even counter them. Yes, it sounds like a lot of work right now. But once these movements become second nature, you'll appreciate that players aren't using a really OP gun, they might just be very talented at the game.

But that's the thing, I know exactly everything you mention, I fight using CQC so I've gotten good at dodging snipers. What I feel you suggesting is that this is a git Gud scenario and its simply isn't. Plus this forum has over 900 replies so regardless on how either of us feel this is an issue. Also I admit their are talented player everyone strides to be the best but snipers have become a short cut. Why master the timing of a fusion rifle, Shotgun, side arm, when I have guarantee two shot or body primary weapon. This style of sniping is what's ruining the name of sniper. these changes aren't going to hurt a good player and actually created skill where there current isn't one.

I only mentioned the bullet pulling since you made it sound like sniping in close quarters is easy, when in fact it isn't. And I never simply told you to "get good," I'm simply offering valid suggestions that you could use to improve your game since there is nothing wrong with the snipers themselves. The increased ADS time was completely unnecessary IMO. If there is anything you change, it's the flinch on sniper rifles since it can sometimes be irritating to die when you're peppering a sniper with a primary when you had a preemptive hit. If you knew everything, then why are you complaining that you die to them? Accept that you aren't perfect and learn from your mistakes. I have to admit this myself too. This goes for everyone on this post who complains about snipers being OP, not just you. Nerfing snipers again will only make snipers switch to something more viable such as shotguns, which are already strong in comparison. People complain about snipers because of their one shot nature, but honestly, I don't know what else to tell you. Maybe send me some footage of you playing so that I can see what you or other players did wrong. Nerfing this weapon by making the draw time slower or decreasing body shot damage would infuriate any sniper. Unless you want people like kjhovey or RealKraftyy to quit this game, I suggest you adapt to countering snipers.

  • Also I could careless about the players you mentioned anyone could to be honest. Some of the best destiny Players have quite because of how balancing is in this game.

  • And why do you think people have complained about balance? While we may be closer in year 2 to balancing weapons, I find it much less fun than year 1 since so many things have been nerfed. While some changes were necessary, not all of them are. Simply because someone happens to repeatedly kill you with a weapon doesn't mean it's OP. Like I said, if you want I can review footage of you or someone else with some gameplay featuring some things you might be doing to counter snipers. Anyone who disagrees with me is free to do the same.

  • Do you hear what you are saying? Your assuming people are mad because they get killed. The majority people are mad not because of getting killed but seeing how little it takes to do so.

  • So are you saying that sniping takes little to kill people? Even if you kill someone in 2 body shots, you're putting yourself at a disadvantage by wasting special ammo and giving your opponent an opportunity to kill you with a primary. I don't know what your skill level is and I don't want to insult it, but I know that at higher skill levels people are rarely killed with two body shots in a row. If you are hit with a body shot, you should have more than enough time to get out of the way. If you don't, then there is more than likely a way you could have avoided that engagement. I apologize if I came off as rude earlier, but I'm only defending a weapon which I believe is mostly balanced and needs little, if any, change. As for your side, I'd like to see evidence that proves that sniping is an easy way to get kills, because I don't believe it is. And if you think I'm biased towards sniper rifles because I use them more, you'd be wrong since I have many more shotgun kills than any other special weapon. I understand that everyone has their opinion, but I don't believe anyone has the right to put my work into becoming a better player to waste. If you believe that snipers are easy to use, go ahead and use them and see if you do better with them than shotguns. I honestly think that all the special weapons are balanced. If anything, shotguns are in a better spot. There's a reason why teams have 2 shotgunners instead of 2 snipers in the competitive Destiny community.

  • That's the thing you assume that because player aren't competing with snipers then by that nature the player has it ever cross your mind that the weapon gives an unfair edge? Not even in a so called "skilled" hand but with other special so inconsistent, fusion rifles kill ranges are extremely hard to gauge of are ridiculous to close. Shotguns have be neutered to the point were even at melee range they won't kill? Side arms I can't speak for but the only consistent special is snipers and their consistency isn't the issue, it's the fact that it's only consistent due no penalties for messing up while using one.
