But that's a weapon. Not a subclass. Is there an instance of a subclass nerf because of PVE?

None that I'm aware of. From memory I have not heard of a sub-class getting nerfed do to PvE because of it it killing The Minions of The Darkness too effectively. Weapons yeah....but I see that happened because of poor boss mechanics.
