Other games that have those stories feel to linear for my taste. It's only one good playthrough, no replay-ability and the atmosphere doesn't feel as free.

Depends on the game, but there isnt anything wrong with being linear (destiny is actually really linear you do 1 story mission at a time in order no choice involved) The idea of games not being linear at all has only really taken off in the last 10 years or so. Being linear makes it easier to make a more hand crafted and controlled experience. That being said some of my favorite games have been completely open world. Edit I would also say it usually helps create atmopshere.

As easy as it is to craft one, it makes it much harder to feel any sense of freedom. Destiny is anything but linear, its story is negligible, but it's atmosphere and weapons and perks are great. I could find another hunter like me, but instead he uses blade dancer instead of gunslinger, with a whole different weapon setup. I'd use a chaperone and a hung jury that had triple tap and firefly. The other hunter would use a longbow synthesis and a shadow price each with their own set of unique perks. We could then combine setups to be much stronger. Find a hunter with a tether, tether a boss or enemy team down and then use golden gun to wipe them out. Maybe we'd get countered by a Titan with a bubble shield, or a warlock with blink and a nova bomb. Go into a raid, with 6 people all using their unique setups and use our own unique strategies for the ridiculous challenges ahead. Think of oryx, where we like detonating 8 blights once and 8 blights again, while another group might like 16 at once. There's not many other games that can do something like that, where there's so much choice in what you do or how you go about your character. One that you build through story missions, quests, and the crucible.

  • There are plenty of games with player synergy. Ever heard of the holy trinity of dps, tank, healer? Ya destiny doesnt have that but it encompases what you just said but amplified. Destinys strong suit is mechanics and raids dont get me wrong. It does that pretty well.

  • No game has been able to catch it in the sci fi space magic that destiny has done, which is why I love it so much.

  • What about Mass effect, Star wars, star ocean, or phantasy star online?

  • That's your opinion though, still don't know why you are trying to force your opinion down people's throats. It's your opinion, everyone is not going to have the same opinion as you.

  • He said destiny was the only space magic game and I gave examples of other space magic games. You picked the wrong quote to make that kind of comment. I wasnt saying that those games where better than destiny per say but that there are in fact more space magic games out there than destiny. My only opinion right now is that there is almost always something better out there that we have yet to experience.

  • But till someone has experienced it then whatever they find best the best game is their best game. How can you say their is going to be a better game out there for someone if you don't know what they like. When they find a better game then they can say that is a better game. Like I said it my original post what my favorite game is. It is Tales of Symphonia a completely different game than Destiny. It is my favorite because of the memories I had with my brothers and cousins while playing it as a child, I loved the story, loved the character customization, loved the game play. That's my favorite game as of June 23rd, 2016. My second favorite game is destiny, again awesome people to play with and I love the game play and lore behind it. Love reading the Grimoire and diving really deep into the lore. And by far this is the best FPS and MMO I've ever played. There are other games out there and I played many but none comes close to Destiny. That's just my opinion, there might be one in the future but till that comes this is it.
