Am I too obsessed with Destiny? $1,049 game
I've been playing Destiny since the day it came out. Didn't hear about it till one of my bosses told me about it, I work at Target so it was right in front of me when I was working. Pick up a copy and have been playing it non stop, though I do play extremely less when the content has been out for a while or when an update like "House of Wolves" and the "April Update" comes and makes the game extremely easy to get everything. [b]Nevertheless I still love this amazing game.[/b]
Anyways I made this thread because there is a spot in my room where I just keep stuff a like, I mean stuff I really love, some is games, some is music, and some is souvenirs that mean something to me. Then I notice how much of that stuff is destiny, a lot of it then I was wondering how much money I spend on Destiny so I started thinking.

After I did that math I was so shocked, never thought I end up spending that much on a game and stuff that relates to that game. Then I started looking at how much time I play destiny on wastedondestiny.com . Not sure if it adds time afk in the tower, or time afk in orbit in all of it.

I love this game, it is my second favorite game of all time, first is Tales of Symphonia as seen in the picture. But I do have some interesting stories for Destiny. When TTK dropped and I had class I made sure I woke up at 4am and played for 3 hours before I had to head out for class. When Kings Fall came out, I had to work from 6am to 2:30 but my boss let me come in from 4:am to 12:30 so I can go home and play the raid right when it came out.
Played this game with friends/family/co-workers and so many random people online. Made lots of new friends through LFG and from forums and some enemies arguing. Its just been like any other MMO I've played in the past, very time consuming and got to love the grind with friends, get mad when I don't get something I want then it extremely happy when you finally get what I've been hunting for.

A set of my cycling racing wheels costs more than all that. I've only spent about $80 total (bought vanilla destiny with the ps4 - because it was white - for a completely different game, so I don't count that in my total amount ).

Bro I am with you. I have not spent that much money on destiny but I would if I hade the chance. I really enjoy this game it's a addiction pure and simple. I would rather be addicted to destiny then partying or some other crap. It also fits my lifestyle, I am going to college and it is very stressful so I play destiny to calm down. My advice if you got the money spend it on destiny. Just don't put yourself in debt.

Ive spent 140 bucks on this game. The -blam!- did you soend 200 bucks in silver for? Also why the hell did you buy the ttk collection and its digital download? And stop giving them 15 on twitch their are other streamers who deserve it more like me and many others. Come on man stop feeding them. Ive been playing since alpha and still wouldnt give them that much money.

There are just so many games out there with just so much more to them. "Real" characters with emotional depth and complexity. Worlds crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail. Actual story that can bring a sense of accomplishment for how you affected the in game world and in some cases bring you to tears at the events that occur within them. Then you have destiny. An above average shooter with replayability, interesting ideas that arnt fully fleshed out, and a decent social atmosphere. Destiny is fun, yes, but it just lacks so much. Fun alone is not enough.

6 RepliesMoney, money, money.... some people spend it on strippers, drugs, prostitutes, and dog food. Others spend it on groceries, utilities, rent, car notes, and dog food. Still others spend it vacationing, and eating, and insurance, and also dog food. Some people like to spend more on coffee along with their dog food. Then some people are super twisted and impulse buy asparagus and coffee when they buy their weekly dog food. Why asparagus and coffee.... ultra smelly piss = someone is about to have a pissy day. The ultimate point of this eye cancer I present to you (as a rational thought) is it is your money and you are not obligated to justify how you spend it or even ask if something is wrong with the way you spend it. Sure, there are priorities like gas and dog food, but sometimes the dog food is not enough and you have to follow your heart. Spend that money if it is something you get enjoyment from.

You do you. I personally see no reason to spend anything on any game other than the game itself and the actual DLC/expansions. I don't need, or want the physical toys or cosmetic micros, but that's me.

Well... that's quite a bit... I've spent around 600(once I preorders ROI) or so on my Xbox, 2 controllers, gta V, halo 5, halo MCC, cod ghosts, Witcher 3, destiny, overwatch, telltale games collection, rocket league, and battlefront(which was a gift) lol the sad thing is I might as well have spent 600 bucks to play destiny because it is all I play..... so addictive.

1 ReplyI'd say if less than a dollar an hour for entertainment is a great deal. I've had games that have given me as bad as 6 dollars an hour worth of entertainment and going out can be as much as 15 dollars an hour. So good for you. I've probably spent about 150 bucks on the game, but I would be just as happy if I spent 300. Bottom line is make sure you get a good RoI (get it? Rise of Iron and Return on Investment?) on your entertainment and you'll be good.
