To The People Who Want The Slowing Effect on Smoke Removed

What kind of drugs is Xur selling you!? And for how many Strange Coins!? Seriously though. If you take away the slowing effect then the entire melee becomes useless. People complain about it doing damage and Blinding and say the slowing should be removed. Well tell me something, if we were to take away the slowing effect what good would the Blinding do? You do realize that the blinding effect only works while you're IN the smoke. So if you can run right through it then how the blinding play a role at all? The enemy who runs through it would be blind for a second and then perfectly fine. There would be no real reason to not run through it. If we were to remove the slowing what good would the damage do? Smoke can only take you down to half health at most and this is with envenomed and Lockdown equipped. A regular smoke would take you down to approximately a quarter of your shields. With that in mind if you can run right through the smoke then how much damage do you think a guardian will take? Hardly any is the answer. Without the slowing the Smoke becomes useless. So what I'm trying to say is with the slowing smoke would be worse than Vortex grenades and Spike grenades. Why are spike grenade and vortex grenades hardly used? Because they're pretty bad. Why? because they require an enemy to stay in it to get killed. Now imagine what smoke would be like. Without envenomed you have to have an enemy stay in it in order to have a quarter of their shields taken down? Why not simply shoot them? That would get rid of their shields quicker and easier. Anyway I'm just saying that removing the slowing effect would break the melee to the point where it would be pointless to use it unless you want to use Vanish in Smoke. Some of you are going to say something about me being a Hunter main and I want to keep my crutch and you know what you're right for the most part. I am a Hunter main and I want to my melee to be able to actually work. I'm quite certain that Striker want their Shoulder charge to work as intended and they'd defend it if people tried to unreasonable nerf it. I'm sure Warlock want the Firebolts to work as intended and they'd defend it should people try to unreasonable nerf it. That's what I'm doing, I'm defending what I think is balanced. I can live with smoke not doing damage unless you use envenomed but smoke not being able to slow enemies is going to destroy the melee. Tl;DR Don't get rid of the slowing effect because it will make the melee useless. If you want specifics then read what I wrote.

  • I really don't like pointing things out as op. Pre nerf hammer of sol was op but i didn't complain because it's just the super. You only get it twice a game or so. But smoke is a melee. And most people run with double melees and max discipline/strength. When i get wombo combo killed, i don't get pissed cause it took melee and a grenade to do it. But it's the frequency that you can use it that makes it too advantageous. Removing the slowdown would nerf nightstalker, but you use it yourself, I'm sure even you have to admit smoke is a bit too powerful. If smoke really wasn't that powerful then why does literally every nightstalker run max strength/sealed amkaras grasp(w/e you call the double melee exotic)
