I don't know what options 1-4 are about, but I've heard a couple of the names. Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings don't really interest me.
-
I've read the Fellowship of the Ring and trust me, it takes serious, SERIOUS dedication. I prefer Harry Potter because it's a much simpler read, and it let's me relive my childhood.
-
I picked Harry Potter over LotR because I actually don't like it as much as the movies. The Hobbit on the other hand is probably my favorite book I've ever read.
-
I picked LoTR, but I'd much rather read Anna Karenina.

Fall of Giants series by Ken Follet is a fantastic Historical Fiction. Seems to be very realistic and is targeted more to adults. Very good

Edited by The Cellar Door: 6/1/2016 8:20:12 PMI tend to stick to a lot of philosophy when I read. As interesting as a fantasy may be to some, I find them boring for the most part. Reading literature which examines, criticizes, analogues, etc. reality and moral dilemmas is infinitely more interesting to me. This can be woven into an elegant story, but I often find authors take too much time telling their story and not enough time speaking on the messages they want to convey. Many fantasies are really just too wordy. I don't mind reading a 1,000 page book, but what's the purpose if 900 pages could have been taken out and the same message conveyed?

I've read the Harry Potter and lotr books. More too, but none listed.

I no longer have the attention span to read
