The black heart, a taken blight.

(shout out to silentshadow801 for pointing this out.) To start off I would like for you to see what the black heart and a taken blight looks like when it is destroyed (don't have to watch the rest.) Or if you're bored, feel free to go kill the heart and Malok yourself and watch the blight and heart die. Black garden heart defeated Taken blight defeated Now let's get started. So in case you couldn't tell, I'm thinking the black heart may be a taken blight or something to that extent. The black heart was used by the vex to make more of themselves, basically a vex spawn. However, the vanguard believes that the vex did not make the heart. They think that the Black Heart was a being so beyond comprehension that even the Vex saw no logical option other than worship it. As to why they think this, I have no clue, so I might just throw their theory out the window. Watching the black heart and taken blight disappear side by side make me think these things may be the same or at least very closely related. One of my thoughts is that this was a taken blight, maybe given to Crota by his father to one day bring taken to the system or maybe the vex stole one while they were on the dreadnought, or maybe the vex pulled one through time accidentally. either way, it made it to the black garden. After the vex took the blight, they changed it so it would suit their purposes. I'll go out on a limb and say maybe they bonded/infused some Radiolaria to the blight and corrupted it. (hence the reason why it looks more like a more organic thing.) but because they couldn't have full control over the heart, they did the only thing they thought reasonable, worship it, as the hive would worship their gods. They then made it make more vex. It is also hinted that there might be more hearts or at least more to this kind of production, meaning the vex could have taken a few blights. Another point to bring up is that a taken blight doesn't go away until the taken ultra(s) in the area are killed, same thing applies to the black heart. It doesn't go away until you've killed all of the sol progeny. Another point that backs this up, when the taken invaded mars they also tried to get the black heart, meaning they not only know what it was but they also wanted it. This could mean that they recognize it as a taken blight and want it back. So to review, the black heart acts like a blight in terms of bringing more forces forward to fight us. The black heart dies the same way a taken blight does. (killing the ultras attached to it) The black heart is also power beyond vex understanding which is much like their knowledge of the taken. They can't comprehend the taken. So, what do you think? Do you think the Black heart is a modified taken blight or do you know something that would say otherwise? If you do, feel free to throw it out there.
Back to master thread: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/205238605?showBanned=0&path=0
Cheers. :D

 • I don't think the Vex are worshipping a blight, but rather darkness incarnate, similar, but not the same. When the Vex were thrust into our universe because of Crota, they sought to understand our universe and learn to conquer it. Like a baby bird, they latched to the first thing they saw, the Sword Logic, and the Darkness. They couldn't understand it, and decided that the best thing to do was impersonate the Hive, and worship it. The Vex are stubborn though. They believe if it didn't originate from them, then it must be inferior. I believe the Heart to be created by the Vex to simulate pure darkness, and then they worshipped that. A combination of something incalculable and created by them. This is what led to the creation of the Vault of Glass. Something was different with Atheon. He didn't believe that this was the ultimate understanding of the universe. He deviated from the infrastructure of the Vex, and believed that something that even remotely existed outside of the Vex couldn't possibly be the answer to ultimate power. Who better than him to take the throne? So he deviated many vex into his proposition and hid away in what we now call the Vault. And using the power of the Oracles (possibly a creature deriving from the Vex universe), was intending to learn to turn back time and usurp the Heart and take control of all Vex. A very Lucifer - like story At least that's how I understand and interprete it
