This isn't a nerf post, I'm just wondering if anyone has any helpful tips for playing around sun singers who use the fire bolt, touch of flame, Viking funeral build. I have been encountering it a lot more lately, and wish I knew a good way to deal with it since I only have two titans and have never used them myself.

As a warlock this is how to counter fire bolt, Just jump backwards a few feet!! The range isn't even that big
-
Shadestep!

On a hunter i think the best counters are either to blink away or use the handcannon-throwing knife combo, which kills them before tey can react. On a titan... The best is to titan skate away...

so glad to see a post like this. intelligent people adapt and learn to counter. weak subhuman trolls cry nerf and whine about whatever killed them last. go positive thread go!

Shadestep
-
Off to change my warlock build. Thanks for the tip!

Start dancing as soon as it hits you. But seriously.. If you can get good with shade step, that's pretty much the only counter.

Shade step/ blink

Shadestep.

If you are at full health and get hit then fall back and get your health back. Then challenge the warlock who is without the grenade for 20 seconds (if warlock had max discipline and you needed 10 seconds to hide/recover). If you are at half or less health it's your call. Go out in a "blaze of glory" to get the warlock or die. I believe it helps to have solar resistant armor perks.

Theres actually a post on this. Its 100 percent accurate and works. Check it out.
s/o to Levigumba or whatever his name is
Edited by Swiftlock: 5/15/2016 6:23:44 PMIf you actually tried them yourself and got a better understanding of how they work, you'll have a much easier time figuring out how to play around them. The information you'll get from that experience will be exponentially more valuable and useful than whatever anybody can tell you here. "Know the enemy." - Sun Tzu

Leave the match

Anybody who is trying to give you "advice" is full of shit. There's not really anything you can do, the viking funeral build is just broken and annoying right now and Bungo refuses to do anything out of pure laziness. It's sad really, and one of the big reasons I can't take Crucible seriously right now.

Best way to avoid is shadestep, blink, or evade... if u don't than I would say don't stay in predictable spots and keep moving...when u stand still or in same area u are a sitting duck... sometimes there isn't much u can do to avoid it unless u camp n keep ur distance...but moving around a lot helps...firebolt is easy to throw n has big radius... If ur tagged my a firebolt take cover...don't try to shoot back at enemy in open w primary cause he will win... U need to one shot him if u can't get away...use shotgun, fusion or snipe him to take him out...this doesn't work all the time cause u prob only have 40 hp left...if ur tagged the best thing to do is take cover or find teammates and hope they help u out...u will need prob 12 seconds to recover...it sucks but it's part of the game... in any fun fight u wanna have the advantage...if ur hit w firebolt u don't have any advantage at all...if u can't retreat and are in a bad spot u gotta get creative n try to outsmart him...I wouldn't golden gun or pop mobile super but if u have a smash or nova u may wanna use it but I wouldn't suggest it...

Stay behind cover as soon as you hear it launch from them. It cant hit through walls and chances are, that warlock doesn't know what to do if his grenade misses. Press the advantage when you have it.

Couple guys here already said it. Equip armor that reduces incoming solar damage or grants more armor when using the matching subclass, but also if you have Twilight Garrison that might help. Plus if you know you're going against a sunsinger, try to keep the engagement long range. (I.e. get good with Scout rifles if you aren't already lol)

I like people asking for help that's awesome. Wanting to learn instead of staying in a box. Depends on your class. Some have skill tree perks that help but as a Singer I hate bolts. Most people counter and here is what I see. In 6v6 it's useless because you pour so much in and can't really make 6 people fear you. Not myself anyway. 3v3 it's good cause it can make people have to adjust or account for it. As a grenade getting out of range is the only dodge. Blink, shadestep, garrison etc. The grenade can will also break or whatever on impact. I have had people hit it mid air or even hit them and that stops it right there. Most common though is they bait me on radar but are by a hallway or cover. They duck it or all shoot and kill me which also kills it. It just blows up with no bolts or burn. After the bolt, which is like 85 hp, comes the burn. Shadestep kills it. Anti solar gear will make it tick like 3 times which sucks. Gear or weapons that regen health works also. Or anything that bulks armor or gives overshield. I hate defender titans cause they can supress with grenades. Striker can charge and kill for stay regen, callers just don't seem effected at all. It's mostly hunters I get. I'm not very good cause I prefer solar grenades. There is more ways but for me if someone hits me and I'm close I usually attack and exchange. Pressure the Singer and space between allies seems more common than anything. I'm just a noob but hope that helps.

Best way to counter them id to not play, I mean think for a sec, it will kill you no matter what
-
Kill them fast, stay out of comfortable grenade range, and if you're poking around a corner and can't down that lock before popping back it'svalmost certain a grenade is coming. I haven't died to Viking funeral in a while actually 0_0
-
Well its simple actually...most the time. If your in a teials match or 3 vs 3 you should check to see if they have that nade. When you first see the warlock in combat just jump in any direction. Thats what i do while shooting them ofcourse to throw off there aim. It works alot of the time.

Thanks for all the tips everyone. Lately I've been running garrison plus fusion grenades and once I get tagged I back off with garrison and get ready with a fusion grenade. I've noticed that most warlocks rush right into my fusion grenades to try and kill me. Usually I either kill them and regen health due to cauterize, or we trade.
