So I have a concern I would like to express.
Both my girlfriend and I are avid Destiny players. We both love raiding and doing POE and all of it. We both love PvE and PvP.
My concern comes in this, we do have a group that will do all of these things with us. But as it stands all of us have jobs and/or school. So sometimes it is difficult to get all of us together.
So what my girlfriend and I do is get a team of randoms.
Why is it that just because she is a woman that plays games she gets automatic passes into every group there is. Yet I have to pass some sort of test. We will even ask for groups with room for two for both of us. And as soon as they find out she is a woman they will invite her anyway and tell her to ditch me.
I have even had groups hit on her while I am in the chat. She is an amazing woman and tells them to stop or we are both leaving.
Most of the time we have to end up leaving because they wont stop.
I have even heard a guys girl yell at him to stop or she would break up with him.
Just because she is a woman she gets treated like a slut from multiple other people.
Why is this a thing.
When did disrespect become the common thing.
Edit: Thanks for the responses guys. I also have an experience to add that I forgot to mention on here. I have one female character which is my warlock. Well while on my warlock and with my girlfriend, A random guy at the tower decided to try and add us both. And as he put it he thought he it the jackpot. Like wtf is wrong with people that is so wrong and disrespectful it isn't even funny.
Edit: OK. To say for the record the reason I said sexism is the derogatory statements made because of her gender.
attitudes or behavior based on traditional stereotypes of gender roles.
This is the definition of sexism as taken from dictionary.com. those fall under sexism. if you are going to try and bash me for just voicing a concern, at least get your facts straight before you do.
Edit: Yes i Know all woman get hit on. That's the nature of males. I am talking about the way it is being done. Plain out disrespect in the things being said. I wonder if some of these things they said to a woman if they would ever dream to ever say them in person, or better yet in front of someone else.
Edit: This is just voicing a concern. Thinking out loud. Asking a question. Whatever you want to call it.

If you let thinks that people say on the internet offend you... Especially this community... You should just not ever play with randoms.
-
I like BBW girls :-)

Your move
-
Because 99% of the Destiny community is immature and disrespectful.
-
2 questions... 1) how did she get out of the kitchen 2) ever heard of punctuation or spacing between paragraphs

You're lucky I wasn't in the raid team. I won't hit on your woman but antagonize her, got one to rage quit an Xbox live party. Was talking about MGTOW knowledge and then said "oh you must want princesses and unicorns" she quit immediately.

I'm a female Destiny player. I've played in both Australia and in Canada, so I have a variety of different experiences to draw from. I have played both with my partner and without. In Australia I met people only through random tower invites(for two months I did okay with a lot of randoms) and in Canada I met people through crazy amounts of randoms to do raids with. I found in Australia with random invites that I was getting hit on a lot. And once they all figured out I was seeing someone they either blocked me, deleted me, or stopped talking to me. Once I got to Canada I honestly haven't had anyone hit on me. I've had one guy offer to carry me through trials, and his phrasing led me to believe it wasn't just him being nice. It's really not that bad, though one thing that sticks out to me is that most other girls I meet are massive bitches. I don't know if it's because they've had so many people hit on them that they're going to be mean or if that's just them, but it's really discouraging. Maybe guys persistently flirt but girls are mean when no one is hitting on them. It's a double edged sword.

Who still does things with randoms

Edited by LDScreaRNJ: 5/9/2016 6:17:21 PMIf you would like a constant group to play with. 1st Generation Guardians. Xbl. If you are on Xbox. Our only requirement is be of outstanding character. This is a place where no discrimination is tolerated. Age sex Creed, religion, so forth. I'm sorry to hear of your struggles. My wife amd I both play. Most days we don't not play with randoms. In the past when we have this was a common problem. I am the co founder. Even if you are not interested in a clan. Please feel free to message me if you're on xbl. You are free to add and play with any of our members. We are very proficient in pve and pvp end game activities.

Not necessarily sexism, but more so men just being pigs.

I was in a raid with 3 females the other day, and it was the worst raid team I've had. The least fun I have ever had in destiny. I was sitting at middle plate for 5 minutes waiting for everyone, it was the spot I wanted. We had two people there already (including me) and one of the girls came up and sat down, and she said, "We have three people at middle, Infest you have to move". I thought oh no big deal, I'll just go there next raid. She keeps grabbing aura and dying, blah blah blah somehow we beat it. Skip to golgoroth. Now, I'm a returning player from December. I need a game these past three weeks to pass some time until doom comes out. I had only done golgoroth challenge 3 times prior, twice before I quit, and once on reset this week. I again, ran to left and waited for five minutes because the lady who stole my spot at middle was afk. She runs over to left to be with her friends and says, quote for quote, "Umm, we have an uneven amount of people on either side, Infest looks like you have to go right". Again I thought oh no big deal, I don't care where I go. But I asked what strat we were doing, someone said sarcastically, "The one where you grab the gaze". So not knowing what to do, I did the strat I was taught, grabbed gaze, and started running back to the door. Everyone starts getting super mad at me, I respond saying, "Well if someone told me how to -blam!-ing do it that wouldn't have happened". The rest of the raid was fine because I muted everyone.

Edited by Moxxis Playtoy: 5/9/2016 6:17:13 PMIt really depends on the individuals you play with, also understand that the video game community is rather toxic and cocky in most cases. Just find better randoms. Many are like that mostly those who are teens and kids. In my case I play no favorite, your a girl good for you, an individual who wishes to be known by the opposite sex, fine by me. But I swear to god if you said you've beaten the raid on many occasions but when as soon as get to opening that door to war priest and you ask what to do, staple your damn eye lids open when you sleep because I am coming.

This is so immature. I haven't read comments yet but I'm sure it will be full of idiots
-
If you've ever had your girl hit on right in front of you then you'd understand this guys point. Its hard to understand but most women actually get hit on and get catcalls on a daily basis. And I dont mean innocent little "hey you look nice" or "want to get something to eat". I mean "Hey baby drop your pants and get ready for the time of your life" and screams from passing cars while their trying to walk on the god dam sidewalk. Just yesterday my girl was followed home on her way from work, if she hadn't ducked into a McDonald's we dont even want to think about what would have happened.
-
Kys you disgusting masculinist.
-
Gender and playing ability have no correlation. I like to look up the number of raid completions a person has before inviting them to a group. Then I like to shoot them a hypothetical question such as how many Hunters should tether at the beginning of the Oryx fight--which should be all the hunters because there's no point in taking turns.

Racist

I treat girls the same. It's sad when I hear dudes hit on girls in Destiny lol sad bro.

Try the100.io as your lfg tool. The community there is mostly mature, helpful, and you can find pleasant gamers from all walks of life. I use the100.io for all my co-op endgame activities and have yet to have a less than positive experience due to the fact I have a vagina. Sure, comments have been made, but they're generally not creepy and mostly due to the initial shock when we start. I've made some good online friends through that tool and they respect that my bf and I usually play together. When I get invites it's usually for two.
-
You can get laid through the Xbox!!??? Jk, that sounds terrible. Like others have said, mature groups should not do this. Some still will, however. Luckily you have the choice to play with people or not.
-
Age purely, if you find more mature groups, not only will they not hit on her they won't give a crap what plumbing she has as long as she communicates and can kill things.
