Sexism in raids.
So I have a concern I would like to express.
Both my girlfriend and I are avid Destiny players. We both love raiding and doing POE and all of it. We both love PvE and PvP.
My concern comes in this, we do have a group that will do all of these things with us. But as it stands all of us have jobs and/or school. So sometimes it is difficult to get all of us together.
So what my girlfriend and I do is get a team of randoms.
Why is it that just because she is a woman that plays games she gets automatic passes into every group there is. Yet I have to pass some sort of test. We will even ask for groups with room for two for both of us. And as soon as they find out she is a woman they will invite her anyway and tell her to ditch me.
I have even had groups hit on her while I am in the chat. She is an amazing woman and tells them to stop or we are both leaving.
Most of the time we have to end up leaving because they wont stop.
I have even heard a guys girl yell at him to stop or she would break up with him.
Just because she is a woman she gets treated like a slut from multiple other people.
Why is this a thing.
When did disrespect become the common thing.
Edit: Thanks for the responses guys. I also have an experience to add that I forgot to mention on here. I have one female character which is my warlock. Well while on my warlock and with my girlfriend, A random guy at the tower decided to try and add us both. And as he put it he thought he it the jackpot. Like wtf is wrong with people that is so wrong and disrespectful it isn't even funny.
Edit: OK. To say for the record the reason I said sexism is the derogatory statements made because of her gender.

This is the definition of sexism as taken from dictionary.com. those fall under sexism. if you are going to try and bash me for just voicing a concern, at least get your facts straight before you do.
Edit: Yes i Know all woman get hit on. That's the nature of males. I am talking about the way it is being done. Plain out disrespect in the things being said. I wonder if some of these things they said to a woman if they would ever dream to ever say them in person, or better yet in front of someone else.
Edit: This is just voicing a concern. Thinking out loud. Asking a question. Whatever you want to call it.

That doesn't make it right, but that's why they're clans and groups who support equal treatment blah blah blah and that's why you don't team with randoms. Treating woman differently is worthless. Because there's a lot of guys who play video games who are lonely, and aren't used to female company. Feel bad for em dude. And for those saying females are worse than males in this game, I have a few female friends who have gone flawless and have more raid completions than most of you. Just let it roll of your shoulder man. There's bad apples in every group.

I just treat girl gamers with respect as with guy gamers. Pretty much I want to have fun not waste my time making the team suffer random flirting comments.

I never really liked to play video games but one of my exes used to play so we got two consoles. So as a girl she got hit on a lot. Now my theory with my gfs has ALWAYS been if no one is tryna hit on your girl, you prolly got the wrong girl. Now when I got on I put her clan on notice so the shit never happened again. Long story short handle your biz. Ppl are going to hit on your chick. It means your doing somthing right but also have the balls to make sure it ain't happening in your face. You ain't gotta be loud or obnoxious about because as stated here ppl get off on that. Lastly if you run into someone too annoying or brash, egg them on and challenge them to get your girls number. (Mind you this will be going on in front of the entire raid team) People back down quick after that shit.

7 RepliesI usually hit on and flirt with girls one because I'm single and two because I know it's not serious and nothing will ever happen! And 3, if a couple comes in, I'll go twice as hard just to get a rise out of the guy, then I'll even start flirting with the guy to make the girl laugh. Why? Because that's fun for me. Lol and I don't mean any bad vibes.

Sorry to hear that mate and I know the story, one of my closest gaming buddies is female and alot of times when we join randoms they can be real disrespectful and creepy. If you are on ps4 our clan has some spots open. We are a good group of nice people and I've never heard any of the clanmates be dissrespectfull against any of our female members. :)

Played with many. Couldn't care less. They was actually refreshing to hear a different kind of voice during raids and Iron Banner. They're human meatbags on controllers just like guys. They want to shoot aliens, not get harassed into not playing anymore.

It can be tough being a girl that likes video games. You either get shunned because they automatically assume you're a terrible player or spammed with invites because they want to be creeps. Luckily, I've found teams like that are pretty rare. Some may initially think I'm looking to be carried but everything's fine once they realize I can hold my own.
