Trinary Star Rising: A New Life I looked around me and saw I was at the center of the test, on top of the hill. Walking towards the ledge I was horrified to see that the clearing was littered with the bodies of dead guardians. The only living thing was a huge, red and grey flying creature holding a massive, corroded broadsword. Its head was shaped like a hammerhead shark with 3 green eyes in the center of its head. “They think you can stop me. In the end you all will belong to me.” “We will stop you from destroying the city!” I shouted, knowing that if I fought this thing alone I would lose “Foolish Hunter. Do you know who I am? I am Oryx, the Taken King, and I will have vengeance for Crota!” Oryx shouted as he flew up into the air and slammed his sword into the ground, causing the top of the hill to collapse into the abyss. I sat up and realized that I was lying on a bunk in our cabin with Sarah, Ashley and Fireteam Recon standing around me. “Matthew are you ok?” Ashley asked me. “I think so… How long was I out for?” I asked, hoping that I didn’t miss much. “Nearly 3 days.” Felix told me “You weren’t responding to anything.” I realized that he had one of his knives out and the crystal in it was very dark. I went to say something but someone knocked on the cabin door. “Sir we found Fireteam Epsilon.” An instructor informed Felix as the door opened. “Good. Where are they, outside?” Felix asked, walking over. “You may want to see where they are.” The instructor said, getting on his sparrow. “When did this happen?” I asked, looking around at the gruesome scene in front of us. The entire fireteam was dead and scattered around us along with fragments of their ghosts. “We’re thinking that they were intercepted while they were riding over to the maze.” The instructor answered as Felix inspected one of the corpses, a Hunter, whose visor was smashed. “Any clue as to who did this?” Felix asked. “There’re no cameras in the forest so it could be anyone.” Looking at one of the two Titans I saw that there was something in his closed fist. On further inspection it appeared to be a blue Titan mark with an orange deer skeleton above an inverted triangle. “Matthew, what do you have there?” Felix asked, walking over, I handed him the mark, which he looked at for a second before allowing Shade to take the mark. “Do you recognize the mark?” I asked. “I do, and I don’t like what this means.” Felix replied. “the Cult of the Trinary Star is rising. The Vanguard needs to know this.” 1 Hour Later “So what’s going to happen with everything?” I asked. “The Vanguard already knows that Fireteam Epsilon was killed en route to the test. What they don’t know is who did it, but thanks to you we now do.” Felix said, looking at me. They’re going to want you there as well for a couple of other things. After that we can show you around.” “We’re landing in the hanger bay now, feel free to transmat out.” The transport pilot announced. “Personally I’d like to wait but they need to know.” Felix said, disappearing. “Wow. I didn’t think he would transmat off.” Will said, shaking this head. “Wait, does he hate the Vanguard?” Ashley questioned. “No, he just doesn’t want to be in the same room as a p***ed off Zavala just like everyone else.” Angel answered as the door opened to reveal an impatient Felix. “The one time I transmat off you stay behind?” Felix complained as we got off. “You’ll thank us later.” Angel replied. “So where’s the Vanguard? Ashley asked when we walked outside. “Down there.” Felix stated, pointing at a set of stairs going down. We went down that flight of stairs and a 2nd one as well. We continued through a hallway past Shaxx and a frame that was across from him. At the end of the hallway there was a room with a long table that the members of the Vanguard were standing around. Looking up from what they were doing as we walked in.. “Felix we already know about what happened so unless you have anything…” Ikora stopped talking when Felix held up the mark. “Where did you find that?” “One of the dead Titans had this in his hand. I know that you know what this mark means.” Felix answered, handing it over. “I know that you want us to take action against the Cult of the Trinary Star but anyone could have plac…” Cayde stopped as a knife appeared on his map, the tip of the knife sticking through where the guardians were slain. “We lost a fireteam that did nothing wrong! That mark wasn’t just laying on the ground, one of the Titans ripped it off an attacker before he died!” Felix shouted, clearly angry. “And if we do something they could gain more followers.” Cayde replied. “Maybe we can’t do anything but you could.” Ikora stated. “Go after Trinary Star, stop them.” “Specifics?” Felix asked, showing that this isn’t the first time he’s done something like this. “You cannot force anyone to help you, but if they want to they can. In terms of equipment, whatever you have and can purchase.” Ikora stated. “Alright then anything else?” Felix asked. “Just a list for Fireteam Winter.” Zavala answered, handing me a small data chip. “Well then, I’ve got something to do.” Felix said as we walked outside. “Are we really that bad?” Jace asked as he disappeared. “No, he just needs to relax.” Angel answered. “What about housing? Sarah asked, watching the sunset. “Will, do you know if that one apartment is still open?” Angel questioned. “Yeah, it still is.” Will answered. They lead us over to an elevator, which took us down to a corridor. After several turns we stopped in front of a door that had a sign on the front stating that it was vacant. “If you don’t mind check your list. Zavala may have given you something” Will said. The first thing on my list was a room access code, I entered code in the keypad attached to the door, causing the vacancy sign to change to Fireteam Winter. I walked through the door into our apartment. In front of me was a kitchen with a glass wall giving us a view out onto the city. Going through a hallway there were 3 rooms. Each one had a medium sized bed facing a holoscreen along with a storage chest and full bathroom. “Is it like this in every apartment?” Sarah asked, checking out one of the bedrooms. “Just in the good ones.” Angel stated from the entrance. “We’ll see you tomorrow. She walked in the room across from us, which I saw had Fireteam Recon on the door. “Well… I’ll be in my room.” Ashley said, taking the room furthest from the entrance “Same.” Sarah agreed, walking into the room next to her. “Well… I guess I’m going to do the same thing as well.” I whispered to myself. I closed the door and walked over to the chest and put my weapons in there for tomorrow. Not feeling tired I switched the holoscreen on and selected Crucible for what I wanted to watch. As I check what arenas were currently in use I noticed that there was a rumble match going on in Widow’s Court and whoever was in first was 1000 points over second place. As the screen pulled up the guardians that were in combat I saw that Felix was in first with 1455 points to 300, I switched camera views until I found Felix, who was facing a Titan that was jumping off the stairs above him and started forming a Fist of Havoc. As her momentum brought her closer to the ground, as well as Felix, he jumped up and stabbed the Titan in the exposed underside of her helmet. The aura of Arc energy faded around her as she died. Strangely the bar that measured her super energy had depleted even though she hadn’t released the energy. “Could we get a refresh on Widow’s Court Guardian stats?” Shaxx asked, shortly after the player board disappeared and reappeared a few second later still showing the same thing. “Well it appears that Felix Rumble has drained the energy of Amanda Steel’s super… wait can we zoom in on Felix’s knife?” As the camera zoomed in on Felix I saw that his knife was crackling with stolen Arc energy. Felix ran into a Warlock but instead of stabbing him with the knife he elected to roll away and killed him with a few well placed handcannon shots. “Why didn’t he use the knife?” I wondered. As heavy ammo was announced Felix ran towards 2 guardians that were fighting over one of the heavy spawns. Pulling out the charged knife and throwing it at the ground between them, causing an explosion of Arc energy to burst out of the knife killing both of them. Felix picked up the knife while he was walking over to the heavy crate and pulled out what appeared to be a rectangular battery which he put in the largest fusion rifle I had ever seen. Looking at the score I saw that he needed one more kill to win, however everyone else was aware of this and avoided Felix for a while. Eventually a SunBreaker activated his super and ran towards Felix, who calmly aimed his fusion rifle at the Titan and pulled the trigger. after a few seconds of charging a single shot sped out of the weapon and pierced his chest. The Titan fell to the ground disintegrating from the Solar laser. “It’s over! The king of rumble has won and has achieved Sum Of All Tears once again!” Shaxx shouted. Turning off the holoscreen I turned around, let Jace transmat my armor away and went to sleep.
