Why all the hate on the "Wombo Combo"

For all you who dislike the so called "Wombo Combo" ask yourself this, was it really so bad? The nightstalker class was an amazing addition for the Hunter, especially since they lacked what is needed for a so called "PvE class" back in year one. All is good in this subclass but one thing, the grenades! The only somewhat effective grenade is the vortex grenade, and without lockdown it's almost completely useless. Using the smoke grenade (while sacrificing invisibility for poison) [b]with[/b] the vortex grenade made an excellent and effective grenade for a subclass without one. But at what cost? You have to use both your grenade charge and melee charge, along with a slot that can give your allies bonus armour and recovery, or drop more orbs. To me this seemed like a balanced combo since alone these two grenades were almost completely useless. Especially in a world where both other classes have a grenade that can either one hit you, or cause some serious damage. Edit: I have no issues with Walocks and their firebolt. For a hunter I am also pro warlock, just though I should clear that up since so many ppl assume I complain about that.

      • In my opinion is that you throw a wombo combo right? You get out with almost no health and the poison is still doing damage. I have a higher chance of escaping a firebolt since im not slowed and able to run and get to cover to regenerate my health. If you werent slowed during wombo combo I wouldnt have a damn problem with it. Im not calling it op, I just think its more on the annoying side

        • Bungie applied more "synergy" to its perks for the new subclasses. The "wombo combo" is a prime example of it. Warlocks shouldn't complain as transcendence and landfall are also prime examples of "synergy." With the needed nerfs to Stormcaller, warlocks are more inline with being "balanced." If Bungie feels the synergy of wombo combo is too much then it will get a nerf but I doubt it.

        • If by "not that bad", you mean "disgustingly broken", then you are correct. I main a warlock and I would get rid of firebolts in a heartbeat, but the wombo combo is just as bad.

            It'd be more balanced if there was a half second delay in between the throws. Kinda needs a risk factor to balance it off.

            • This whole thread is filled with reasons as to why it's OP and what should change. Listen up kids cause I'm about to take those reasons and break down why they don't make sense, Barney style. "It shouldn't affect me in so many ways!" The combination of being blinded, slowed, poisoned, and suppressed is meant to set you up for an easy follow up kill. Removing any of these traits makes it not worth the effort. If I don't blind you, you could gun me down. If I don't slow you, you could run away. If I don't poison you, I might not do enough to you before the other traits wear off. If I don't suppress you, you could super me. "The Nightstalker is the only one who gets a grenade in the melee slot!" The Sunbreaker is the only one who can create sunspots. Gunslingers are the only class that can buff their gunplay from crit kills. The point is, each class has perks and advantages others don't. That's what makes that class special and makes destiny different from CoD. "I should be able to double jump while smoked!" Then why bother using two abilities when you can just jump out after taking a half second of damage? "If you get hit with the Wombo Combo, you're dead [insert stupidly high %]" The best thing about this particular combo is that walking is pretty damn effective. Unless I hit you dead -blam!-ing center and you panic, you have a chance to walk to safety. I've done it and seen it. Now if I start shooting you before or while in the combo, then you are dead. Which is how it should be since I spent two abilities and bullets to get 1 kill. But that's no different than being hit by an incendiary grenade before or after being shot.

              • Yep, it takes both your charges and you must land it directly at the feet of your enemy to guarentee the kill. With that requirement of accuracy you're actually better off just using a sticky grenade. So how can anyone call it OP but not sticky grenades lol? You also are forced to spec 2 perks, Envenomed and Lockdown to make it at all effective.

              • Wombo combo shines in trials due to its ability to guarantee a kill. Outside of trials, i didnt think it was all that stellar

                    • 'its op' of course its op it 2 abilities and not a guaranteed kill! Anyone thinks that op try fusion/flux grenades! They are 1 ability and can kill you and nearly always do!

                      • The issue is how quick it kills you. I should have a fighting chance. Sure it should still be powerful, but it kills so fast and there is so little time to react. It's not nerfable but it's annoying as all get out.
