Though Bungie has no comment on this, I think the points you make are valid and well thought out. Having recently played Halo 5 (where everyone has access to the same guns) and The Division (definitely a grind for the best weapon stats), the thing that I find more enjoyable about Destiny is the way the gun play feels. And having to put aside year one guns (and to a certain extent armor) to play the new content is incredibly disappointing. So much for creating your own unique guardian. My vault is filled with year one equipment that doesn't get used.

 •
And having to put aside year one guns (and to a certain extent armor) to play the new content is incredibly disappointing.
In my mind, for a game as gear-centric as Destiny, the gear in each update is every bit as much "content" as the activities they come from, and I know a lot of players feel the same way. So, when they had the audacity to update the game in a way that completely invalidates an entire year's worth of content, and call it an "expansion," I simply can't understand why so much of the player base simply went along with it. >.<
