I hate to think this way, but it is something that crossed my mind. I wasn't buying the idea that it came because of PvP. I sometimes feel like they hide their PvE intentions by bringing up PvP stats and graphs. There were other ways to address this. I'm not a developer, but if this was about PvP it seems like the better move would have been to limit how much ammo a person can grab from a crate at a time. The same way they were able to go in and eliminate ammo at the start of each PvP match for Trials, while not hitting PvE. IMO this move was more about preventing us from killing Warpriest and Golgoroth in 2 rounds or less.

  • Excellent post. That would have been the PVP solution. Secondary and heavy have ammo restrictions in Crucible. So Bungie is either pre school level programmers or this is how they extend the PVE grind? Something that really made me feel this is that Bungie said the new Challenge of Elders is 16 weeks of new fights with the modifier combinations. Then they nerf the most effective weapons for boss DPS with the ammo reduction. Also in reference to Warpriest and Golgoroth Bungie has now created a system where trying to help a lower level guardian may not work. If you are going to need full extra rounds those 3 man clutches are going to be much harder. If the intention was to make these fights harder they could have just scaled up the fight's light level.
