Iron Banner has improved a lot over the course of Destiny's lifespan. They have made a lot of additions to it and it's now more enjoyable than never, even when it's far from perfect and there are still awful things about it.
if their priority is PVP and they're so great but simply choose to ignore PVE out of spite or w/e, then why the hell is PVP still a broken mess? Why is MM and lag still borked? Why are classes still wildly unbalanced? Why are weapons also embarrassingly unbalanced beyond repair
C'mon that's pure hyperbole. PvE is not ignored, they actually have fixed a lot of PvE content, they have addressed plenty of stuff and each expansion/update they release PvE content. The same goes for PvP, is not a "broken mess" it's still fully playable and enjoyable, even with its many flaws. If it were really unplayable it would have happened the same that happened to Halo 2 Anniversary. I don't really feel like mentioning your other points because they're really exaggerated. Think of this as you will, maybe we can agree to disagree and end this.

 • A bit hyperbole perhaps. You're the one who argued that the game is PVP oriented and was always designed to be PVP oriented. I am merely stating that it was not always meant to be PVP oriented. Sure, something as simple as Iron Banner was completed before the game launched. That takes a lot less energy to implement than new PVE content. It's just a simple fact. The difference between H2A and Destiny is that H2A is a bunch of great games that are literally unplayable but given that everyone has played them successfully we know those games have a great competitive balance even if it was over a decade ago (and no, balance doesn't necessarily have to be what you think an ideal game should be based purely on an individual's skill, hence Halo 2 being competitively balanced even though it's a game where aiming skill is such a low priority. The teamwork is what decides games). In a bug free, lag free environment H2A would be fantastic. Now compare that to Destiny. Even if Destiny played perfectly, bug free, lag free, the design and the competitive balance in PVP is abhorrent. From classes to weapons it's laughably poor. Sub classes are nowhere near equal. Some guns are useless. A single gun has dominated the game for the vast majority of each stage of the game's life (whether it was Vex, Thorn, or Mida) because balance is nonexistent. But that's all off topic. The point is, the game was never meant to be PVP oriented. It was meant to be balanced between PVE and PVP. Both were meant to hold equal importance. The game ending up being PVP oriented is merely an effect of the circumstances and Bungie's abilities (or inability) to support the game between primary releases/content drops.
