• Not pve. Pvp priority in a Pve game.

  •
in a Pve game.
Who told you that? Destiny is heavily PvP oriented. Just look at how factions worked in Y1, look at the monthly Iron Banner and the Weekly Trials of Osiris. Rotating PvP playlists each week, perks only usable for PvP, entire subclasses aimed at PvP. Both PvE and PvP are important, and balance in PvP is more important than PvE, after all you're going against humans who will use/abuse everything at their disposal to gain an edge over you.

  • It's PVP oriented because when the community only holds you this little accountable for lack of balance in PVP, (and note Mida aside PVP balance still hasn't been improved at all), and you're so bad at adding meaningful content to your own game, becoming PVP oriented through such braindead, repeatable "events" like Iron Banner and Trials is really, really simple. And simple tasks is about the only thing Bungie can successfully accomplish on this game.

  •
becoming PVP oriented
Except Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris where already planned before the game launched. We even had an Iron Banner during the beta. Destiny was planned to be PvP oriented since before the game was released, it never became PvP oriented. Also the upcoming nerfs/buffs will benefit PvP balance. There's not doubt in that.

  • I can't see how the fact that you ignored what PvP was back then and Bungie having PvP events planned before the game came out relate to each other. PvE and PvP are not terms exclusive to Destiny.

  • No, I played with friends and beat up aliens....but I honestly had never heard of pvp before I bought destiny. I still don't get it.

  • PvE = Player versus Environment. That means humans playing against the game itself, computer controlled enemies, environment hazards, etc. PvP= Player versus Player. That means human players versus human players. PvP has been in the games since the days of Pong.

  • I thought it was player v enemy and player v player. I don't equate pong with running around with guns trying to kill people (or campsniping with a gun).

  • Well it's the same at the most basic level, you're still playing against a human.

  • It can be a sports game, it can be a racing game, it can be a shooter, it can even be virtual chess and still PvP is present in all of them.

It could be, I play a lot of RTS and that's quite common in those games. I'm probably used to that kind of stuff.

I disagree. Destiny was planned to have a balance of PVE and PVP. The problem isn't that they spent all their time and effort into PVP, it's that the PVE half of the game never materialized. The PVP stuff was finished before the game was even released. If they had successive PVE content throughout the life of game, it would have both PVE and PVP balance. Think about the beginning of the game: They had Queen's Wrath(?) PVE event once and an IB. At that point it was balanced. Then people were waiting for another PVE event that never came because they weren't good enough with their own toolset to even make that bite sized PVE event consistently. Iron Banner? Sure, because all the work has already been done. It takes the gaming equivalent of flipping a switch to run Iron Banner. And when Bungie couldn't even put out full $20 expansions...
(make no mistake, that didn't stop them from charging $20 per expansion, but they couldn't produce $20 worth of content),
what did they do? Abandon all hope of balance and shift support focus to PVP, thus becoming PVP oriented. Consider this; if they had to recreate all the Iron Banner work to hold Iron Banners every month, we would have received as many Iron Banners as we received Queen's Wrath. It only became PVP oriented because the effort to upkeep the PVP events is minimal and that's all Bungie was (and is) capable of in any consistent basis.

  • Why do you think no effort was put into improving the Queen's Wrath event? Priorities. That's why. Instead Bungie improved Iron Banner, created the temperate buff, made Light Level matter, added weapon reforging, etc. Their main focus was PvP and they choose to improve it instead of PvE. Just look at how much effort they're dedicating to improve Trials of Osiris. It's not like "flipping a switch" there is complicated data analysis and rebalancing to work on after each event. As for the expansions, they have both PvE and PvP elements. Back in the days of Halo when everyone used to love Bungie DLC used to cost $10 for just 3 maps. No weapons, no campaign content, no armor, just 3 maps. It's not because Bungie isn't capable of providing a PvE quality experience, it's because their main focus is PvP. You can choose to ignore this, but it's like trying to cover the sun with the tip of your finger. It may work for you, but it's still there.
