Yeah but all bosses contain tonnes of ads before you have to take cover, that way you are able to farm ammo before that

No, you won't. With reserves reduced farming ammo for an upcoming encounter is something you can't do that well anymore. You need to interrupt shooting the boss more often simply to run around and gather green boxes.
