Exotic Shards Methods Y2
Hello fellow guardians.
I was able to see a ton of posts on exotic shards, but was curious as to the best method to obtain them.
I discovered a year 2 Mida and dismantled it. Since I discovered it, I can forge it at the tower for 150 legendary marks. Can I forge and dismantle, and repeat for inifinte exotic shards? If so, that seems kinda slow. Is there a better way?
When I see people saying they have 30+... it seems impossible to me at the moment.
Sorry if I am posting incorrectly or repetitively. I am enjoying Destiny and trying to get the most out of it. :)

What you do is consume a telemetry then use motes of light to unlock all the circles on the weapon, destroying it then gives you 2 shards [spoiler]heard about this, have yet to confirm[/spoiler]

Those are Rocket telemetries and MG telemetries.) [b]Step 2[/b] ~ Now go to the Exotic weapon kiosk, and buy any Y2 heavy weapon. Buy as many as you want or as many as you can! (It will cost one Exotic Shard and 2,500 glimmer for each Exotic heavy) [b]Step 3[/b] ~ Pop the heavy telemetry, and equip the Exotic heavy weapon(s)! [b]Step 4[/b] ~ Equip each Exotic heavy one-by-one, and put 6 motes of light into each heavy weapon, (This will fully upgrade them. [b][i]DO NOT PURCHASE THE UPGRADE NODES! YOU WILL JUST END UP WASTING 30 MATS FOR EACH WEAPON IF YOU DO![/i][/b]) then dismantle them either after you put motes into all of them or one by one. It doesn't really matter how you dismantle them, just make sure you already put 6 motes into the one you're dismantling!) [b]Step 5[/b] ~ Profit! [b][i]You will get two exotic shards, 300-600 glimmer, and 2-4 motes back for each one you dismanlte![/i][/b] It is a costly process, but I can guarantee it works for every single exotic weapon/armor piece! (But I would recommend buying and putting motes into Exotic heavies, as they only take 6 to fully unlock all the upgrade nodes. Primary Exotics take 17-19, and Specials take 11-13. ([b]Only with telemetries active for that according type of weapon![/b]) If you don't believe me, just go buy [i]one[/i] Y2 Exotic heavy and a heavy telemetry, and try it out for yourself! Happy "farming" (If you can even call it that! Lol) guardians!

Better with launchers. Takes fewer motes to upgrade. With heavy telemetry and class item it only take 6.

If you have a Y1 version of one of the "brought forward" exotics, you can purchase the Y2 version from the kiosk for 150 marks. Once you have the Y2 version unlocked, you can buy duplicates at 280 atk for an exotic shard and a handful of glimmer. You can get the weapon, level it up (pump a bunch of XP into it to unlock all the bubbles) and then sack it. That will usually give you more than 1 shard back in return, so it's an semi effective way to turn motes and glimmer into shards. Another way to start stockpiling them is to buy a whole bunch of 3oC from Xur, and then grind away. Start deleting your dups or the un-used weapons/armor that's taking up space in your vault (since it's saved in the kiosk, there's really no need to hang onto items that you're not using).

4 Repliesonly the first time you buy it off the wall will it cost legendary marks, after that it will cost 1 exotic shard, and something like 2500 glimmer (I think) - use about 20 motes of light to max it out, (but don't buy any of the nodes) Dismantle for 2 shards. repeat this. for as many exotic shards as you want, it just costs 2500 glimmer and 20 motes per shard...

Or you could go for an armor piece for 125 marks? Did I get that number right?
