There is an easy fix to all of this. Change how recovery works. Instead of having recovery start after a period of time with no damage. Have shields recover a set amount per second based on recovery.

  • That I don't like. People will just Max our their REC and be like mini Wolverines. That guy juuuuuust beyond range of that low-impact auto rifle? Current Scenario He'll get pelted and his shields won't recharge and he slowly loses life. Unless he moves, he can die soon. Your Scenario He'll get pelted a bit but the shields will recover bit by bit making each weak bullet even less effective.

  • I see your point, then again your using a close to mid range weapon at a distance should have penalties. That is why we have scouts and pulse rifles. I am also not sugesting the shield increases as fast as it does now, but at a constant number, where things like the Thorn and other dots don't make recovery usless, but still are a threat to those that remain in combat. I also find saying well everyone will take it a mote point. Everyone has the choice, and there should be enough reasons to pick one over the other. I think it was a flaw in Bungies design to only have 3 stats, and make them so minor in effect.

  • So which is it, is there no point, or you don't like it? How would fix the issue of dots totally negating a stat? Nothing, not even tether or smoke bombs totally negate agility. Resistance debuffs, and damage buffs don't negate armor. Why is recovery the only stat that is totally negated.
