Okay, look. Imma break my comment down: Firebolt grenades have a pretty far range to hit a target. While someone can jump over an incendiary grenade and not take the full brunt of the explosion, grenades like firebolt can actually reach aerial targets and still take out a large portion of health. I mention Thorn here because Thorn(at least in Year 1) had a far greater range to hit targets unlike quite a few other hand cannons, more noticeably the legendaries. With the Sunsinger's proper perk equipped, all grenades receive a DoT effect(not be confused with an elemental type). With this "burn" added in, a firebolt can also bring down an opposing player's health rather quickly. Thorn, being compared here, also has Mark of the Devourer. This perk, which is Thorn's trademark, gives it a DoT effect that can damage an enemy. No other hand cannons have a similar perk and when you put this perk and range together you get a gem that stands above the rest(as far as where Year 1 hand cannons stand). Thorn had a better advantage against many of its Year 1 brethren, even if it could be countered by competent players, and it still does, to some extent, in Year 2. Firebolt has better handling than quite a few other grenades because it does not have to directly hit an enemy, has long range and can do increased damage(with the "burn" perk) that would vastly increase the chance of obtaining a kill where it normally could not. Am I providing enough clarity?

  • That does make it clearer but the logic is still muddy. You are trying to say since mine doesn't do it than it must be better in a simple form. You lacking a proper example so I'll help you out. Bolt does not burn. The classes perk does. The gun your providing had these perks on its own. That's the biggest kick in the pants for most. They can't separate the 2. The rest are so selfish they want to change a perk tree because they refuse to equip or learn counters. Keep in mind this is a game mode that is extremely limited. Crucible and PvE no one cares. Don't listen and start agreeing with these whiners. They come up short in facts because they didn't really care to research. They hate it and so they find things to compare it to so it looks bad lol.

Hrrm, you've got a good point there regarding the problems of separating perks and abilities. I'm not in any way in agreement with changing the perk tree though. That's outright ridiculous by itself. The big issue though is trying to find a good enough counter against something that is better suited for more situations. Originally, I just wanted to point out to the OP of where the firebolt/burn stands as far as effectiveness in the Crucible right now. Did not expect to move this far off. :s

Not fair to me who isn't good at it anyway. Why do I get punished? Anyway thanks for listening to my rambling. I get going and can't stop sometines. Have a good night buddy =)
