• The last time I tried it I broke a nail I'd show you a picture of it but it's grown back. If this isn't proof I don't know what is.
Prove to me that time travel is dangerous.
The Weeping Angels "are as old as the universe (or very nearly), but no one really knows where they come from." They have been described as "the deadliest, most powerful, most malevolent life-form ever produced." Weeping Angels are unusual as predators in that they neither kill nor directly parasitize their prey. Their usual mode of feeding is to make use of time paradoxes - with a single touch, a Weeping Angel can send a person into the past to a point before his/her own birth, and can then feed off the "potential energy" of the years which that victim would have lived in the present. The Doctor describes the Angels as "the only psychopaths in the universe to kill you nicely" because their victims are otherwise uninjured and may live out their lifespans in the past. Weeping Angels prefer to take their energy from live victims, but if required they can drain other forms such as that from electric lights (as seen in "Blink") or other electronics. In "Blink," the Angels attempted to steal the Doctor's TARDIS after trapping him in the past. The engine of the vehicle contained enough time energy to feed them forever, but The Doctor stated that the possible damage they could cause "could switch off the sun". So, this species is not only drawn to power sources, but are like moths to a flame when it comes to a TT Type 40, Mark 3 of Gallifreyan origin, powered by a harnessed singularity. Their capture of one could devastate a star system and even rip the fabric of spacetime. That's one example of a lifeform that is a danger for any being/technology capable of time travel. Another example are the Reapers, who detect, seek out and destroy paradoxes as well as the existence any time/matter/energy associated with the paradoxical event. A pretty harsh Quality Assurance program if ever I heard of one.

      • It's dangerous, because of paradoxes and shit But imagine taking all our technology to the Romans and explain how it all works, then travelling to 2016 to see how advanced the technology is, then go back with that advanced technology, explain how to use it and then travel back to 2016 This will be repeated until the IPhone 823 has been invented

      • Go forwards in time, every new disease that has popped up will kill you because you haven't adapted to it. Go backwards in time, and every disease that we HAVE adapted to will kill everyone also.

      • A scientist was working hard on his time machine. His colleagues scoffed him, saying this was an impossible feat. Not the one to be easily deterred, the scientist kept working and finally perfected his time machine. His first test was going to be a modified version of the Grandfather Paradox. Even he knew that he couldn't kill his grandfather without creating a paradox, but he wondered what would happen if he went back in time and killed himself instead. He got a gun, set his time machine to five days earlier, and away he went. When he stepped out of his time machine, he walked to his office; he saw himself sitting at his desk, not paying attention to the door. He drew his gun, shot the version of him sitting at the desk, and returned to his time machine. He returned to his time, collected data from his time machine, and returned to his office. He sat down and began to analyze the data. He hadn't disappeared, so he must have avoided a paradox. "Eureka!" he exclaimed, but his moment of triumph quickly turned to despair and horror. The reading from his time machine showed there was a glitch. Instead of traveling five days into the past, he had accidentally traveled five minutes into the future. He did not have much time to find a solution; he heard his door creak open followed by a gun shot, and everything went black.

          • My theory is that the past can't even be changed because: Let's say that you want to change something in the past. You change it, ok. But then you never had a reason to time travel, therefore you didn't time travel and didn't change anything. About how dangerous it is, no one knows what actually happens when you time travel. There may be obstacles of some sort in the dimension(s) between past, present and future. And if you can travel through time safely, you may make some mistakes that leave the world in an entirely different shape than it was before you did it. Like, say, adopting Hitler for whatever reason. Just think how different things would be.
To sum it up, I think it's dangerous???
• A lot of time travel depictions are inaccurate. For instance, a common misconception is that you cannot see or come in contact with your past/future self. The truth is, that wouldn't even matter. Many other time travel myths exist, look them up and ask me if you want to know fact or fiction.

Assuming that there is only one universe, it's likely that you'll end up with some sort of paradox or change the course of history. If we live in an infinitely large multiverse, then each time someone/something travels through time it could create a "branch" off of the verse that it left, creating an alternate time line where nothing will be disturbed

                • Doesn't time travel kinda eliminate free will? If you can go to a pre determined time based on actions of the past wouldn't that mean that the future is already decided and we can't do anything about it?

                  • You can't change the past because it already happened. If you went back in time and met yourself at this period it would be a cycle because before you travel you have already met yourself. Then you time travelled to meet yourself at this moment you already met yourself. So you'd be the young and the old and experience both and the meeting will happen which you'll then know you'll make traveling to meet yourself. And no such thing as alternate reality exists.

Backward dangers: - Paradox: you change something that stops you being born. - Apocalypse: you change something that causes humanity to be wiped out by 2016. - Dangerous environment: you travel back to a time where you end up in the middle of a battle, the unwelcome attention of a large predatory animal or the Earth is uninhabitable. Forward dangers: - Dangerous environment: Earth is uninhabitable / human hating aliens have taken over / disease you have no immunity to or cure for, etc.
This assumes you're not moronic enough to kill your past self.
