Likewise, the man tries to keep a stoic face to disguise the awkward situation, but for once he was at a loss of words as of what to do; he's clearly as uncomfortable as you are. Finally, he spoke up in a voice that was surprisingly eloquent for such a... Scruffy looking fellow, scratching his head as he does so,
"You don't have to, Ambassador, as long as you can activate a trans-warp engine, and run warp calculations. That's about the extent of your duty, until I can trust you."
The silence stood for a bit longer, as the man was unsure of how to proceed. He finally nods his head in agreement,
"I don't know if Ignus do handshakes, but I'm Eric Cooper, ex-NTR and Captain of the Torch Hammer. No need to introduce yourself; I already know perfectly well who you are and what you've done. Alright, this way."
He gestures for you to follow him inside of the ship. Turns out that the inside is a helluva lot more advanced than the outside, with a state of the art control panel and sensor apparatus.

He follows him, seemingly muttering to himself— but to Eric, it's clear those words are meant for him. [Trans-warp... I escape Ignus territory through twelve dimensions, three which shouldn't exist, cross thirty-six more through Kol territory, run through fifty-six star systems in this sorry excuse for a physics-guided spacial anomaly, and he HAS THE GALL TO ASK ME IF I CAN RUN TRANS—] His "muttering" comes to a halt as he realizes his volume has reached levels magnitudes higher than originally intended, and the walk becomes silent. [...I believe my decibel monitors are broken.]

Eric couldn't help but smirk at that, "Yes, I believe they are. I meant no offense by that, I'm just not aware of your personal history... As are the rest of the crew, mine. Seems like we're both dark horses here, eh?" He walks a bit farther down the corridor until he reaches the cockpit, and withdraws a strange looking blade. Though wide, it's clearly made of a material not meant for combat, and it's cubic geometric shape solidifies that notion. "Data Knife, good for hacking an otherwise insertion. Touching the hilt should send you the schematics via neural activity, or whatever that equates to with you, but I figured that I might as well show you around anyways." He hands the knife over to you by the blade, and then walks past you, towards a small staircase leading down to the lower level.

Cain looks past him, grasping the knife and absorbing the information, paying special attention to the engines and flight controls for a brief second. [Fascinating. The purgatory programs match those of Alyon Mine Cores from Axis 5.6895-12-56.] He glances around the cockpit for only a brief moment before his head snaps back to the knife. [Which means it wouldn't register as an intrusion if I were to— Eric, may I borrow your knife for an hour or so?]

Eric doesn't even look back, showing no sign of contemplation other than his hesitation. "Sure, go ahead. Hell, keep it if you'd like, I can always make a new one." He continued down a surprisingly long Hallway, before pointing through a few open doorways. "Living Quarters are to your right, Engine Room's down the hall, but only Arty can control it, Kitchen's over there, if you're hungry." He points down the hallway a few meters, obviously sarcastic, "And the room behind the stairs is my Bedroom. We won't be shipped out for a day at least, so until then you can stay on the Infinity. I'll call you if you need to report any further." He finally turns around to face you, "I trust that you've turned a new page, Cain, for both our sakes. I'm putting a lot at stake here, if that means anything to you, so try not to fuck up. You know where the exit is."

[I'd like to say that I'm risking just as much. But I feel as if I have yet to comprehend something.] He stops eyeing the blade for a moment, looking back up at Eric. [Don't worry, Eric. Your life is safe in the hands of what is potentially one of the most dangerous machines known to Creation and beyond the Void itself. What could possibly go wrong?] As Eric leaves down the hall, he gives a moment before he speaks again. [Besides... It's only "fuсking up" if you're caught.]

Eric smiles to himself as he walks away. Undoubtably Cain thought that he was a blithering idiot, as he had heard how naively arrogant the Ambassador could be. As much as he'd like to think that Cain had turned over a new leaf, old habits died hard... So Eric was ready if he ever chose to betray his trust. Still, more important notions crossed his mind first, like sleep. Sleep sounded pretty damn good right about then... (End)
