If you die before they hit the ground & expand they do not do the DOT.
You only get damage from the initial explosion which varies from like 30-120+ damage. No idea how or why it varies though.

Oh yeah I dunno then. I don't run Sunsinger very often but they've never exploded early, and not done burn damage if they tagged as long as I stayed alive.
