Space magic. Spartans are the best soldiers that technology and training can produce. Guardians are the best soliders that technology, training and MAGIC can produce. Hard to defeat an enemy that simply keeps coming back from the dead.....

  • But you can't just erase it from the equation. Trying to talk about the power of our Guardians without the Light is like trying to compare Spartans to Jedi, and saying that you can't talk about The Force. Just like the Force gives Jedi access to power that cannot be reproduced with technology, the same is true of our Guardians. The Cabal are the only players in the Destiny Universe that are limited to science and technology alone. The are a society that is analogous to that of Star Wars in its level of advancement...or about 10-20 thousand years more advanced than the tech that created the Spartan IIs.... ....and they are probably here in our star system, desperately trying to find a way to fight off The Hive in their own region of space. There is no way the Spartans win this.

  • Wow that was fast, yes even magic has to be used with logic, Guardians can't warp the laws of physics in anyway that matters in infantry combat.

I am not exaggerating. I am trying to get you to understand the Universe of MAGIC that we play in every day. Go run patrol on the Moon. LOOK at the cracks raised in the crust of the Moon that are pushing up against the sky...and that Ghost warns you about being still unstable. THAT is CROTA's handiwork. Go to the LIghthouse or The Buning Shrine and look at what the Traveller and the Vex were able to do to Mercury. If you play in the Halo Universe, you operate in a Universe of SCIENCE FICTION. Advanced technology that still has to play by the laws of physics. If you play in the Destiny Universe you operate in a universe of science FANTASY. Where you have advanced science mixing with miracles that are worthy of any holy book. Because most of the things you see every day in that universe are NOT scientifically possible. ...and involve levels of power wielded only by gods and angels. IOW, The Universe of Destiny takes the physical laws that the Halo Universe has to operate within...and wipes its ASS with them.

  • That's why Spartan's target Ghosts first or shoot them down when attempting to revive a Guardian. You guys act like Ghosts are invulnerable when they sure as hell are not.

  • Not invulnerable. Just extremely difficult to destroy. A point that would be clear if you pay attention to the things your ghost can do and the energies it can harness.

  • So difficult to destroy that we've personally discovered at least 100 scattered around, and the thousands+ of dead Guardians, right?

And that's just what we've personally discovered. We also know that there are at least hundreds of thousands of actually dead Guardians. If they were so hard to kill, the war wouldn't lasted more than a year.

Actually I've proven my point multiple times. In simply trying to argue physics and history with people who want to argue emotion and fantasy. Once the OP invoke "logic" (which ==rationality== science) this debate was over. Spartans fight in a fictional universe of the scientifically plausible fighting other beings doing things that are scientifically plausible. Even if it's a million years in our future. Guardians fight in a fictional universe of MAGIC. Where beings routinely do things that are scientifically IMPOSSIBLE against other beings doing the scientifically impossible. Channeling the power of a machine/entity that terra-formed two planets that are hot enough to melt Lead...once of which is exposed to enough radiation to scour the planet of ANY atmosphere it might think of having. The only thing that is keeping this conversation going is hero worship for The Master Chief. Full stop.

  • Which explains why hundreds of thousands of Guardians have died along with their Ghosts. Ghosts are the equivalent of a support glass cannon. Incredibly powerful and useful but fragile as hell. Ghosts on their own barely survive. Reviving a Guardian takes considerable time by a single Ghost, which leaves it beyond exposed. If another Ghost/Guardian is involved then it is shortened but nonetheless the Ghosts are exposed and can go down easily.

While holding off a planetary scale invasion. Over a period of centuries. If Ghosts were easy to destroy, this war would have been over centuries ago, and The City would be either a Hive portal or Fallen spaceport. A battle the scale of Twilight Gap alone should have cost hundreds of thousands of lives.

  • You're talking as if it's the Ghosts alone are stopping a planetary invasion. Earth hasn't had a planetary invasion. I wouldn't call Twilight Gap a planetary scale invasion when it only involves a couple factions of a race. Not even the Hive landing on Earth is a planetary scale invasion when they're pretty much contained in the Cosmodrone and random outbreaks else where in the world. Only the Cabal and Oryx had the true power to conduct a full on planetary invasion, something that any of the factions in Halo would have no problem with. Or hell, why not just blow up Earth directly? None of the factions of Destiny have that power while all of them in Halo do. I'd love to see The City withstand a NOVA bomb, which is still comparably weak within Halo. You're giving way too much credit to the Ghosts out of blind fanboyism. If they were truly as strong as you make them out to be then The City would be in a much much better position and so would the Guardians, but they are not. The Speaker always says the City is on the verge of collapse and fading into Darkness. Spartan kills the Guardian, Spartan captures or destroys the Ghost. End of story. Spartans have the reflexes and speed in order to do that, not to mention the training and experience.
