Look at Battlefield 4, they have a Testing Community. They're able to get good feedback because they let their testers know what they are testing before it becomes purchasable content. The testers can get a good feel for the difference, know the difference and give proper well inform feedback. They sometimes test the most broken items before being released as content, like the riot shield. In the Community Test Build, one melee from the riot shield could kill four people. Now in actual content it takes two to three melees to kill one person and no one is complaining.
