No m8 the (1+2) is in the denominator. If it was in the numerator then yes it would be 9. You have to clarify these things.

Use any scientific calculator and you'll be 9. My math professor also says its 9.

Because you aren't typing it in correctly. You probably didn't write it correctly. The way you wrote it makes it seem like the (1+2) is the denominator. If you put 6÷2 in parenthesis then yes it would be 9.
