TLDR? Is at the end.
Ok most of the people I have seen complain about snipers have so far been lower skill players, inexperienced players, or shotgun primary users from year 1. But here is my take on it, a sniper who uses this in a competitive field AKA sweaties.
Watch these videos first, please and then comment whether you agree or disagree

My take on it from a competitive perspective and what we should do instead of nerfing it for no reason
1) I am slightly above average and do mostly play PvP either playing Control for fun, competitive, or to help people go through trials. My stats http://destinytracker.com/destiny/player/ps/Krishna096 if you wanted to know. When I use this in a highly competitive match, I usually find myself having trouble sometimes than not. And it's definitely not easy to use a sniper nor has it ever been. But you know what happened? People practiced sniping, myself, I have always used a sniper for the get go. Sniper has never done the job for me, I have. If I quick scoped someone, I did that. If I have no scoped someone, I did that. If I have sniper an arc blade while he is chasing my teammate and I was up above, I did that (Really too). You get the big picture. The sniper has also stayed the same way it always had.
2) It's not OP (Overpowered) as it is OU (Overused). I agree with that because I can see other are lacking while the sniper remains the same. But nerfing it is not the answer, buffing the other weapons are. If you buff a weapon, everyone is happy. The shotgunner/Fusion rifler??/ side arm users all get an awesome buff while the sniper could remain the same. We should stop asking for nerfs, I don't want to throw marshmallows and pillows by the end of destiny.
3) I also don't think a sniper is a problem as people are making out to be because they don't know how to counter it. Now you might be saying Krishna, ya scrub I keep dying when I run around a corner. Then don't run around a corner. In fact, use your vertical jump or even slide through it. Don't be run in there while you are aimed head level by the sniper, use your abilities. Learn to counter it, because it is can be very easily countered.
4) INB4 you say "Lol you are just a scrub sitting back sniping to boost your irrelevant KD" Here this is a gameplay made while back, of me joining in a losing game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huygQT2_Mw0 That's a short taste of how I snipe. I usually aim for 3-5 seconds then descope and move. Watch it as it's pretty cool too. Leave a like if you enjoyed.
Now some things some of you smart guys will say and my argument against it is.
Krishna, it's all people use: Then let's buff the other specials and make them pretty good at their respected ranges mate.
Krishna, I hate being killed by a sniper in CQC: If you get sniped CQC, then jump up around or slide a lot and then kill them with your primary. Trust me as a sniper, If I ever get caught like that it's an RIP. Most times if you can't kill him, it's really your fault. If you see a red glare GTFO, don't just stand there picking your nose.
Krishna, someone trickshot me and I hate it: Mate, that's because he was just a better player, nothing on you. Or he got lucky, Don't worry about this because not many people can do this.
Krishna, it's aim assist. It's doing the work for them: You haven't watched the videos have you? Mate seriously go watch them and understand what they mean. Aim assist does nothing but slows down the reticle for you to get the drag shot.
TLDR:
Basically nerf fusions rifles and......

I was just kidding on that, just go read the post.
EDIT: I want a buff to Primaries too so they can compete with snipers.

Lower aa and make aa the same in all snipers making one not the problem and making it more consistent across the board
