When I say crutch, I don't mean the weapons you think other people use because they "don't have skill" or "can't use something else". What I mean is what weapons do you like to pull out when you're in a pinch? What can you always rely on to get the job done?
For me, I have three different play styles, so I have a small list of crutches.
Gunslinger:
Ace of Spades
In pve, I know that when I'm outnumbered, I know that I can rely on Ace of Spades to take some of those numbers down. In pvp, I can at least know that I'll be at my most accurate with it than any other hand cannon. I can usually down a guardian in three quick shots or one shot and a throwing knife.
Defiance of Yasmin
I would say that this is my most accurate sniper rifle. It's very stable, the scope has a wide view, and I would assume that the aim assist isn't half bad. With this, I know that I'm more likely to get some quick headshots.
Super Good Advice
What can I say? It shoots fast, it hits hard, and I don't have to reload. It doesn't matter if I'm mowing down minions of darkness, bosses, or guardians. I know Super Good Advice will get the job done.
Bladedancer:
Zhalo Supercell/Suros Regime
With Zhalo, being outnumbered isn't much of a problem. In pve, I can easily mow down my enemies. With Suros Regime, it's always nice to have a little range when my usual loadout consists of close quarter weapons. Plus, it can heal.
Burden of Proof XI
With this shotgun, I was lucky enough to get rescue mag and replenish on it, so getting ammo is almost never an issue. Since it also kills at a decent range, it's absolutely perfect.
Raze Lighter
If I come across any annoying majors, I know this sword will destroy them for me.
Nightstalker:
Not Like The Others
The roll I got with this scout rifle helps with stability and aim assist, so getting precision hits is easier, especially when I combine it with Radiant Dance Machines. Mida might take its place one day, but I'm still trying to get out of this stupid mindset I have with the meta.
Telesto
In pve, it's great for groups and it generates orbs of light for my team, so chaining supers is a little easier. In pvp, I'm able jump and shadestep in many directions while relying on the fast charge rate and explosive shots to deal constant damage.
I don't really have anything on heavy weapons since rocket launchers do about the same thing.

I know that it will perform its job and do it well . There is nothing more satisfying than to see a guardian blow up through a well place headshot, And the reckoning left in its wake .
Edited by Errant_Stoic: 2/27/2016 12:42:30 PMI have different weapons for pve and pvp that just work for me. They handle the best for me and I tend to die less with them. For year 1 pve my go to guns were Primaries: hawkmoon, fatebringer, VoC edit to add mythoclast Secondaries: icebreaker, praedyths Heavy: ghorn, hunger of crota Y1 pvp Monte Carlo, thorn, MIDA Party crasher, invective, felwinters, praedyths Any tripod/proximity RL, any slow fire/high impact MG Y2 pve In a hard encounter, red death. Otherwise whatever strike my mood Usually invective. Whatever, usually a MG Y2 pvp Monte Carlo all the time. Sometimes MIDA or hatchet Trials shotty or sniper, invective Slow fire/high impact MG or truth.

TDB Red Hand XI with zen moment and crowd control. I used it in crimson doubles to get the bounty done. This gun is so good.

Red death, hung jury and mida. Red death I have used pretty much constantly since I dropped it year 1 so I would say it's my real crutch.

Plan c is my crutch check this out Watch "The "special" less spoken of" on YouTube https://youtu.be/Gf1OsMr3ppM

It used to be the Mida, but now everyone hates it, and anyone who uses it... For that reason, I can't use it anymore... Now its pretty much any pulse rifle, or fusion rifle... I get no hatemail using them...
-
I use everything. Who stays with one weapon for everything? Boring! And there aren't any crutch weapons. There's only shitty players that get butt hurt when they keep dying to certain weapons then come on the forums to whine like female dogs in heat.

Maximum speed build with MIDA (lightweight), Bones of Eao, controlled jump and maximum agility. You go so fast. It's so fun :D

Not like the others is super underrated. It's a great looking gun with good stats.

Mida, can't live without it.
