Trials tips

Okay so I sure I will get a bunch of "get gud" responses but, I do know there are some good people in the community. My two friends and I all played trials this last weekend and....... would always win the first match of a ticket but lost all the others, we were determined to get better so we continued and played probably like 5 tickets worth all with the same results. The silver lining is we came out on top with passage coins. So we are looking for some tips possibly new friends to show us the ropes. We want to get to the lighthouse legit, so any mentors are welcome. We are on Xbox one btw.

  • If you want to get to the Tower, just select it from your director. If you'd like to get to the Lighthouse, then play trials. 1. Get ready for pain and frustration. Been playing trials for 3 months, took me 2 months to go flawless, and went last weekend again. So many cards I've run out of glimmer several times. 2. Have a fluid strategy. By that I mean you need to adapt to what your opponents are doing in game. If they send one to flank, try to catch him in a 1v2 or 1v3 and kill him. You now have the advantage. Even if one of you dies you have an easy res. 2.1 Figure out who is the support player. You need at least one. I rotate between lead and support. A friend I play can't play a support role. Even if he's failing miserably he refuses to play support. When I LFG a team I play mostly lead. Having 2 lead is optimal. Your 3rds job is when someone calls that they need help, they immediately run there for support. The other lead can typically flank and pinch. 2.2 Read the art of war. 3. Run your first card without boons. Just get used to the map, where the points of engagemnet are, where sniping lanes and grenade spots are. On Exodus Blue, Sunsingers would just chuck grenades up the tube. Learn how to avoid those places. 4. Check out loadouts in pregame, and make sure you have weapons that can counter. If they're all running Last word/snipe you can counter long range with Scouts or mid range with High RoF autos. Check int/disc/strength to know how they're going to have their supers or grenades more. 5. Don't challenge someone who will outgun you. If you get sniped, don't go that way, don't challenge that sniper again. Not giving up a kill is more important that killing someone. 6. Make smart use of supers. Nightstalkers you need to save your bow for self-res, bladedancers, hammers, and stormtrance. DON'T USE QUIVER. Use black hole. It's also acceptable to tether ords that you know you can't cover ir get in time. You'll sometimes trap 2 even 3 and get a triple kill. If you're a self-res, try to die near an orb. You can res and hold x, and have another teammate revived before you can even be shot. 7. Push orbs, smartly. If you snipe someone in the middle of two opponents who have good position, don't push too hard. If you kill someone off by themselves, secure the area, and defend that orb. 7.1 Learn to res snipe, res shotgun. I have one friend who panics and never waits long enough to res shotgun someone and he always loses. 7.1 Learn to res push to save someone from a snipe. Won't always work, but you need to do it everytime. 7.2 DON'T DIE IN BAD SPOTS. By that I mean out in the open. You need to make sure someone can get to you without being shot. 8. While dead, make sure you're still making call outs. Use their third person camera to help call out, or use your cam to spot the highlighted buy that killed you. 9. Keep the "chatter" to a minimum. Use to concise callouts so you minimize the chance of missing something because someone else was talking while you were. 10. DON'T USE TRIALS REPORT. Some teams you'll destroy, some will destroy you. Knowing their KD ad ELO will never help you. Find a winning strategy and stick to it. Good luck.
