Well if we're comparing game story's, believe it or not Destinys wins against halo 5. Yes the previous storylines for destiny were horrible but the taken King just seemed amazing compared to halo 5.
Halo 5 had you find out cortana is evil. Really? Nice way to ex machina a character back to life. Were as the taken King actually had you against someone you felt compelled to wear his ass as a hat. We killed crota then his big bad daddy-O came at us.
Story wise in the recent games? Destiny wins. Yes that's right. You heard me. The taken King wins.

This post isn't comparing stories, its comparing the power the universes have in battle. Also if you actually know the lore and story behind Halo then Halo 5 makes total sense. I've been warning people Cortana is a catastrophe waiting to happen since the Halo2-3 era. She's rampant, a story concept introduced very early on by Bungie. She's survived her rampancy because she merged with the Forerunner Domain at the end of Halo 4. That's why Chief was able to both beat the Diadact and take a nuke to the face and survive. Merging with the Domain doesn't cure her rampancy, it just prevents it from killing her. So she's completely mad, given near limitless firepower, and being manipulated by Forerunner AI already in the system. What about that is Deus Ex Machina?

Ex Machina implies they pull something completely out of left field that's made up on the spot. This wasn't. its been establishes as possible by the lore as established by Bungie.
