The UNSC's most powerful armament is called a NOVA bomb (interesting but 100% true). The NOVA bomb contains 9 nuclear fusion warheads that all simultaneously explode when activated, increasing the bomb's destructive yield a hundred-fold.
There has only ever been one recorded time in the halo universe when this bomb was used. During this one recorded event, the bomb was detonated aboard a Covenant vessel within a large fleet that was orbiting a Covenant planet. The resulting explosion boiled and vaporised the entire fleet within an instant (over 300 ships); scorched half of the planet to an uninhabitable state within seconds; released radiation that penetrated to the planet's core; generated winds and tsunamis that flattened any remaining cities; and causes a nearby moon to shatter into millions of pieces.
