Please explain your answer Note : Also check out this reddit post, its another experiment done with Grimoire NOTE : GHOST GIVE 760 NOTE : CALCIFIED FRAGMENTS GIVE 310 If a person has more experience they tend to have more skill. I am not saying all low Grimoire score players are bad, I am not saying all high Grimoire score players are good. But majority of the high Grimoire score players are good, and majority of the low Grimoire score players are not good. Think about it, there are a lot of people with low Grimoire scores, some this might be there first FPS, some might be extreme casuals, some just don't care. But people with high Grimoire score play the game a lot, they care about the game and spend a lot of time on it. Let me give you an example. I have been doing this for the past weeks and it has worked out for me. When I am looking for a raid group I would go to LFG and post something similar to this.-
Need people for a fast raid run. Only requirement I have is must have a 4600+ Grimoire score
And I posted this morning -
Looking for 5 players to do 2 fast runs. Only requirement is to have a 4600+ Grimoire and have enough time to run it more than once. 1 run should take 50mins.
The people who met the requirements had no problem messaging there Grimoire score, but others got so mad, they called me a "grimoire scub", "fu.cking retarded", and more stuff. Some people can't read at all and posted their light level. I didn't care about light level at all. It happened every week I've done this. It was really ridiculous. Do you want to know the time for all 3 of my runs? 54m 27s - http://destinytracker.com/dg/4662858649 (Warlock) 1h 4m 53s - http://destinytracker.com/dg/4663058534 (Titan) 51m 39s - http://destinytracker.com/dg/4663230540 (Hunter) All of these runs went smoothly, becasue of that one requirement. If I would've had a light level requirement there is no telling what will happen, majority of the time it just goes bad. It is so easy to get carried to 315 and it is so easy just to get there without trying. Grimoire score shows more skill then a light level. So please don't message me on LFG if you don't meet my requirements and don't say "add me" if you don't meet them either. It's my fireteam, if you don't meet the requirements then you can't join so don't rage at me. Do you rage at someone asking for 315+ light level when you are 313? Do you rage at someone asking for Black Spindle, when you don't have the gun yet? Now let tell you what actually goes into a Grimoire score, and its not just dead ghost - Your grimoire score will increase if you : Get Crucible kills on Warlock, Hunter and Titan Get PvE kills on Warlock, Hunter, and Titan Played during the House of Wolfs days, when fallen attacked on patrol Killed certain bosses in PvE Killing an amount of certain enemies in PvE Get weapon kills with all types of weapons, not just a shotgun and hand cannon ;p Playing multiply PvP modes and winning at them, not just control and iron banner. Playing maps in Crucible for the first time. Playing events in the game, Finding ghost/frags exploring the game. All these will increase your Grimoire score, becasue it gives you a feel for the game, you are playing the game while doing this. Yes this might be like other FPS games but it still plays a bit different. Yes some people have an awesome FPS background and are already amazing in PvP. Someone who has been playing longer would know more. There are some prodigies in the world but not a lot, it takes time to get good. Remember in Elementary school when your teachers would always say practice makes perfect, it actually works a lot of the time but not all the time. PvP Skill section of the tread - When I look for a trails group on LFG I always say have a 1.3 KD or higher because my KD is 1.3. I do not base PvP skills off grimoire, because lots of people have a FPS background and are good.

There is no such thing as "skill" in PvE. You either know what to do, or you don't. Grimoire has minimal, if any, correlation to this.

    • I've noticed raids go better when all are at least over 4200 grim score. Not always but at least 90% of the time.

            • Since pve doesn't require anything more than pattern recognition based on experience I would agree with you. PVP I agree as well, to be mostly irrelevant thanks to aforementioned fps experience as well as people who got banned for cheating and created new accounts (seen plenty of examples of this)

              • Grimoire most certainly does not equal skill. Ran into a warlock lvl 13 with 4500 grim, used only a shotgun. Ran into them again in skirmish, they couldn't even win a primary fight. Keep in mind I was using a nifty biscuit I got from PoE so we had equal playing field. Still crushed them and was promptly called a y1 scrub for using nifty.

              • 2600 grimoire started at TTK. I don't raid often but when I do can easily hold my weight or if needed take lead if someone doesn't know what to do. In PvP I'm already one of the top tier Australian teams and have the ability to double carry in trials.

                • Ghosts only make up a tiny sliver of Grimoire. If there's somebody at 2800, odds are they won't be too experienced.

Question... Based on your high grimoire requirements for the raid (and part of that grimoire being attached to PvP) how do you come to the conclusion that a high grimoire means you'll be experienced enough for a raid???
my grimoire 4585... Guess I don't make the cut even though I have more raid completions than yourself

4600 grimoire requirement... Well this is a no fun zone
• I'll agree that grimoire does help identify skill, but only to a certain degree. If someone only does pve, or pvp, they tend to suck at the other. It only tells you who has put in time in the game. K/d doesn't really show skill either, cause if you spend all your time camping you can easily raise it, and if you have played long enough to not care you'll tend to mess around instead of trying so you can actually enjoy the game. The only true way to identify skill is to play with someone. That's why when I look for trials teams on lfg, I do dummy runs to see if they suck or not, then buy new cards if they can actually hold their own. On the pve side, I just don't care anymore. Too easy and too repetitive for no rewards.

                  • I didn't read the majority of that. But it doesn't take an intelligent person to know that experience does NOT equal skill. It just makes the individual more prone to being better. I've met many a high grimoire person that still sucks ass at the game.

                    • Most of the time yes. If it's below 4,300 then no. Grimoire = Time played = Experience = Skill (sometimes)

High grimoire doesn't equal gun skill which is evidenced by my high grim and my lackluster pvp career. However, grim does equate to experience. And in my mind, experience is king in pve. So I agree with the argument that you're presenting as far a pve "skill" goes. I would rather run with a group of 4500 plus grim with light levels ranging from 305-315 than a group of 315+ that all have less than 3500 grim.

                      • Grimoire shows playtime really. But then again if you spend more time doing doing something it's obvious you will get better. That and very high grimoire players obviously shows dedication to the game, which is mostly done by higher skilled gamers.Thats not to say grimoire directly correlates to skill, but it used to be a quick indicator as to how experienced/skilled a player was when your using LFG.

                      • Well, higher grimoire players tend to be better than lower grimoire players. It's a sign of time played which leads to more experience. That being said, it does not DIRECTLY gauge skill. I'd have to answer "Yes", but only because more times than not, higher grimoire players are better.

                      • lol a few weeks ago on iron banner I got an inv for iron banner to make a full team of 6 and they were all checking my grimoire which I think is like 4525 off the top of my head. I had the highest grimoire in that fireteam and while I don't consider myself to be the greatest player, I feel like I'm good and these people that were going on about KD and grimoire and blah blah who were all higher light than me were getting there asses kicked and I led my team almost every time. So I guess it just depends. grimoire can be a hit or miss on determining someone's skill.
