Please explain your answer Note : Also check out this reddit post, its another experiment done with Grimoire NOTE : GHOST GIVE 760 NOTE : CALCIFIED FRAGMENTS GIVE 310 If a person has more experience they tend to have more skill. I am not saying all low Grimoire score players are bad, I am not saying all high Grimoire score players are good. But majority of the high Grimoire score players are good, and majority of the low Grimoire score players are not good. Think about it, there are a lot of people with low Grimoire scores, some this might be there first FPS, some might be extreme casuals, some just don't care. But people with high Grimoire score play the game a lot, they care about the game and spend a lot of time on it. Let me give you an example. I have been doing this for the past weeks and it has worked out for me. When I am looking for a raid group I would go to LFG and post something similar to this.-
Need people for a fast raid run. Only requirement I have is must have a 4600+ Grimoire score
And I posted this morning -
Looking for 5 players to do 2 fast runs. Only requirement is to have a 4600+ Grimoire and have enough time to run it more than once. 1 run should take 50mins.
The people who met the requirements had no problem messaging there Grimoire score, but others got so mad, they called me a "grimoire scub", "fu.cking retarded", and more stuff. Some people can't read at all and posted their light level. I didn't care about light level at all. It happened every week I've done this. It was really ridiculous. Do you want to know the time for all 3 of my runs? 54m 27s - http://destinytracker.com/dg/4662858649 (Warlock) 1h 4m 53s - http://destinytracker.com/dg/4663058534 (Titan) 51m 39s - http://destinytracker.com/dg/4663230540 (Hunter) All of these runs went smoothly, becasue of that one requirement. If I would've had a light level requirement there is no telling what will happen, majority of the time it just goes bad. It is so easy to get carried to 315 and it is so easy just to get there without trying. Grimoire score shows more skill then a light level. So please don't message me on LFG if you don't meet my requirements and don't say "add me" if you don't meet them either. It's my fireteam, if you don't meet the requirements then you can't join so don't rage at me. Do you rage at someone asking for 315+ light level when you are 313? Do you rage at someone asking for Black Spindle, when you don't have the gun yet? Now let tell you what actually goes into a Grimoire score, and its not just dead ghost - Your grimoire score will increase if you : Get Crucible kills on Warlock, Hunter and Titan Get PvE kills on Warlock, Hunter, and Titan Played during the House of Wolfs days, when fallen attacked on patrol Killed certain bosses in PvE Killing an amount of certain enemies in PvE Get weapon kills with all types of weapons, not just a shotgun and hand cannon ;p Playing multiply PvP modes and winning at them, not just control and iron banner. Playing maps in Crucible for the first time. Playing events in the game, Finding ghost/frags exploring the game. All these will increase your Grimoire score, becasue it gives you a feel for the game, you are playing the game while doing this. Yes this might be like other FPS games but it still plays a bit different. Yes some people have an awesome FPS background and are already amazing in PvP. Someone who has been playing longer would know more. There are some prodigies in the world but not a lot, it takes time to get good. Remember in Elementary school when your teachers would always say practice makes perfect, it actually works a lot of the time but not all the time. PvP Skill section of the tread - When I look for a trails group on LFG I always say have a 1.3 KD or higher because my KD is 1.3. I do not base PvP skills off grimoire, because lots of people have a FPS background and are good.

  • No. While grimoire score shows dedication to the game, there is no real correlation. Finding ghosts is an entirely different activity than being able to run relics/being torn. While yes, usually those who have dedication enough to find ghosts throughout the planets/fragments throughout the dreadnought, dedication does not equal competence. Let me say that again: Dedication =\= competence Bless up.

Ive been playing FPS games for a long time. My grimoire doesn't mean shit to me. Just like the PSN trophies (or achievements if you're on Xbox) don't mean shit. Experience does not equal skill at all. But I will say more experience makes you more likely to be skilled I guess. It doesn't matter to me in the end anyway. I have no intentions of running the hard raid as I feel the loot is garbage and 10 light levels doesn't make a real difference. I'd be interested if there were elemental primaries, but alas there aren't. Just reskinned versions of the same shitty weapons. Plus, come Spring it will all be useless when the light level is increased.

      • there is no one thing in this game that can determine someone's skill. no matter how bad some would like to believe. Grim score only shows how well rounded someone is. generally someone with a high score will be well versed in many aspects of the game and thus be rather good. but also someone could have a low grim score because they only do the raids, and they will be epic at the raids.

      • Played ToO, went 8-0 with 2 low light level, and very low grimoire players. Numbers in a game don't make you skilled, it's your actions, and the player, that define skill. I had an ok grimoire a few months ago, then decided to get out the grimoire guide, went hunting for hidden ghosts, and simple pve challenges. My grimoire score went up a thousand points by the time i was done with very time consuming, but very simple tasks. If you really care about grimoire, then have one the represents "skill" eg, complete each raid, on hard mode 100 times, WITHOUT dying =1000 points a raid completion. *Have the highest score in a pvp match, 50 times (or in a row) = 2000 points. *Go flawless so and so times *get the most kills.......and the list goes on. you've found a ghost=10 points, doesn't show skill

        • I have 4205 grim score, my group has completed Kings Fall in ~40mins in the past and average ~1 hour completions. I don't care about increasing my grimore score. I used to believe it meant something, but it really doesn't. If you play a game alot you understand the mechanics, and how to fight an opponent. This does make you more skilled at the game, but this doesn't mean that your more skilled at the game the someone with a 2k grim score. Some people are just naturally more skilled at games then other people.

          • 1. Implying PvE is a skill based event and not a mechanics based event 2. Implying grimoire is a sign of skillful achievement when it's really a sign of grind achievement. 3. Implying experience equates to skill, it doesn't. Jerry rice always commented he wished he had the skill of Terrell Owens, Jerry rice is considered the greatest due to his hard work, not skill. 4. My grimoire is low because I didn't feel the need to grind for any of the ghosts, PvE events, raid completions, or any of that other bullshit. When I solo the hard mode oracles, then quarter bar Templar because my teammates died I don't need a score telling me if it was good or not, it's inaccurate. 5. Grimoire holds no sway over PvP skill.

            • For PvE yes, PvP not so much....it's more an indication of experience which in the PvE side of Destiny is all you need.

            • Grimiore doesn't mean pvp skill. To me it means they have pve experience but if they have max grimiore or are close then they have played crucible and are skilled in the crucible

              • I've seen my fair share of high grim low skill players. By the sane token, I have played with new guardians who were ungodly good and quick learners.

              • Personally the grimoire score, like light and to extent K/D, give no indication of the skill level as it can vary day to day, take myself for example I have 4000 some odd grimoire and a K/D overall of about 0.8, nothing amazing, is this an indicator of my ability....no because I have good days where I play like a ninja but equally I have bad days when you could be forgiven for thinking I'm playing sitting upside with my pad back to front, it's all about the moment and not a score for me others I'm sure would disagree.

              • From what I have gathered by reading the comments below ppl are torn between. 1. There is no real connection because it is a causal treasure hunt not some hardcore dragon slaying. 2. Higher score = better skill due to more time spent playing game therefore overall better player. What OP, and some of you here are not understanding is the human element. Let me start off by saying you can gain a huge chunk of grim by hunting ghosts/frags and some dlc VIPs which can be done in less than a week mind you. Weapon kills can be farmed, as will as enemy's. Do some ttk content and boom you got +4000 probably. I don't do PvP much and I got 4400. I have done kings fall and other raids and guess what? I am human. I can still -blam!- up and you people need to learn that. A +4600 is not Jesus Christ, that person has the same chance of -blam!-ing up as the next guy with a lower score that has done the raid +10 times since the encounter is like riding a bike. Grim is nice an all but that shit is a paperweight because what really covers your ass in an encounter is Gear. What weapon and armor load out you have at the time and place can either synergize with teams or ensures you own survival. In crota hard if you didn't have a helm that restores health by orb or red death you were -blam!-ed. Bottom line. TL;DR: Humans can perform either under or exceed your expectations so observation is key. Grim is not a reliable indicator in terms of skill in higher scores as the nature of it is exploitative. Gear makes the guardian survive so judge that with the highest scrutiny.
if you gate ppl off like OP please do some community service and help noobs because if this becomes a trend new players will not learn the encounter at all.
• High Grimoire just means you no life this game every day/week/month. When I search for raid groups I look for a +10 raid k/d. I've completed hard raids with low light levels by just using that metric alone.

                      • I don't think grimoire = skill. I do believe that grimoire = time invested which = lots of practice. There is a lot of PvP based grimoire. Even if you're not great at PvP, playing all those games for wins has to lead to you being a bit of a better player in the long run.

                        • No! I have had the game 4 weeks! Do you think my grimoire is high? Ha no but i can tell you i am year 1. I had xbox 360 now i have ps4. I had high grimoire on xbox and all the trials adept weapons. I was 305 light 2 weeks after taking king released and i stopped playing. Now i have almost nothing and already went flawless, done the hard raid, and more! Grimoire does not matter! People never know how good you are based on stats. I do games where i do good and i do games where we do "challenge" mode and use only a certain weapon. My stats are not the best but with the weapons i have they are pretty good.

                        • Grimoire just shows repetition to be honest. There isn't one card that requires any skill to obtain. All pvp related cards can be boosted and all pve cards are just grinding for kills. In the same sense I had 3 runs last night asked for 315+ and finished all within 1 1/2 hrs each. We had a lot of trouble on oryx on the third run but we did have a 311 that kept dying at oryx and for some odd reason really struggled with warpriest. Once the person left at each section and was replaced we finished that section quickly. Sure 315s can be carried but high grimoire can be boosted.
