And yet, MS have recycled the old 360 games to make them available for access through the XBOne. Maybe the old generation consoles are proving more popular than manufacturers thought.

Thats irrelevant. Its not the console people care about, its the games from that console. Nothing more.

The only way to pay those games (legitimately) was to use the console. Yes, those games have a loyal fanbase, but then that meant the console had a fanbase too because that's how the game was played.

But a new game shouldnt be held back because some loyal fans of older games still have that console. In 2017 xbox will be 12 years old, and ps3 11. Theyve had a good life. Its time to move on.

I don't disagree as such, the point I'm making is that the old consoles have a very loyal fanbase still. It's a risky move alienating that fanbase.
