Auto Rifles are performing fairly poorly in the Crucible right now, and don't come at me with that goddamn Doctrine; it has TWO of the best stability perks in the game, a stat mod that improves it further and is a member of the 100 ROF club.
I'm talking about EVERY other Auto Rifle; the ones with high impact, meant to be used at mid range, the middling ROF class and the (oh wait, Bungie didn't include any other high ROF legendary Autos in TTK). All of these Auto Rifles are completely useless without Counterbalance AND the best possible stability mods.
This kind of perfectionism on a gun is impossible; you'll never find that paleocontact with ALL the right things, and even then you get screwed over by the high ROF Doctrine. Auto Rifles need a large stability improvement, and the high ROF class needs a moderate range nerf (where the hell do you think it's meant to be used?). There is just no incentive to choose one of the lower ROF Autos because you know you'll be missing just as many shots as that blind Doctrine user who thinks the meta is fine; he'll just be putting more out.
It sounds like a rant, because it probably is. The Doctrine of Passing is the only competitive Auto Rifle in Destiny concurrently, and this is due to a blue moon of perks, the likes of which allow it to shine where and how Auto Rifles should. Impact, ROF and (to a reasonable extent) Range are fine right now; all Auto Rifles need to make them both a viable and competitive choice is a reasonable stability increase across the board, so perks like Counterbalance and Braced Frame aren't NEEDED to make the guns function, never mind perform.
Too often do people assume that, because it's greatest denominator (Doctrine) is working well that all guns in that class are doing the same; they aren't, and this is ignoring the barrel upgrade damage increases offered by the exotics.
I feel like this is a relatively simple, easy to implement change, please work on this.
(P.S: More Handcannon ammo k thx)
