The only thing in that movie I hadn't seen was [spoiler]han solo dies[/spoiler] and [spoiler]traitor storm trooper[/spoiler]. I didn't dislike it. I was just very disappointed that they were too lazy to make a new story.

Don't get me wrong, being disappointed with the story being a redo is perfectly acceptable. [spoiler]But when people say it's prequel levels of bad....[/spoiler]

No, it's just that when people say it sucked for that exact reason it makes me wonder "did you not like a new hope?" Plus George Lucas himself said "it's like poetry it rhymes"

As a big fan of sci-fi it was incredibly disappointing because it didn't feel like they brought new stuff to the table. My biggest gripe was that so much technology was reused from the Civil War Era, whereas there's a major change in Clone Wars to Civil War. Then the plot similarities. Yeah, and Lucas also said it sucked, too..

I'm gonna be honest with you, George Lucas is kinda insane at the moment (so I shouldn't be quoting him). But from a sci fi stand point (well actually Star Wars is listed under sci fantasy but whatever I guess) it's only been 30 years since ROtJ so technology wouldn't really have advanced as much, and if it has it's mostly an improvement over an older design.

That's been quoted a lot. I thought about it, looked it up...and guess what? It's -blam!-ing bullshit. The prequels BEGIN 32 years before the Original Trilogy begins(immediate source upon google, wikipedia). So thats Ep 1- not clone wars era- to Ep 4, where we see X-Wings and such. So in a time span of under 30 years, we see the technology of the Clone Wars turn into the tech of the Civil War. And there's OBIVOUS transitions/similarities. AT-TEs and AT-ATs? AT-RTs and AT-STs? ARC-170s and X Wings? And...well...y-wings are y-wings. Improvements are fine. Make them noticeable, not just paint everything -blam!-ing black. Like, the best example of it would be TIE-Fighters have rear gunner positions, too bad that only ever comes into play once! They had the landing craft for that one scene, I guess. I also point out real life parallels- how much has phone tech increased in the last 30 years? Computer? Video Gaming? (This isnt all directed at you, but more that..excuse. Also, yes, Lucas is insane, but he did make 6 good or great "Star Wars"-es, no? Plus, via lucasarts, an astounding number of good games? Not sure if he was involved with that tho)

[spoiler]and let's be honest, the only reason things from the prequel era are different is because Lucas realized that if he made ships look cooler he could make more money off of toys.[/spoiler]
