We [i]hope[/i] they will learn from this and drastically change the second installment. But you gotta wonder with all the missteps they are still taking in Destiny 1, are they abandoning the quest for redemption and simply using it to experiment on player reactions now, or are they truly that incompetent?

Wouldn't necessarily label their efforts to "fix" Destiny One as incompetency since I believe the core design is to blame for the lack of PvE longetivity. Take for example the added level of RNG in weapon drops in TTK. This was done to emulate titles like Diablo to extend the lifespan of PvE content, yet the Destiny community complains about this because Y1 drops were uniform across the board. Bungie knows what it needs to do, but the framework and expectations put in place by Destiny 1 won't allow for it. That's why they've likely punted.
