I will kneel and wait for teammates, however if I start seeing red, I grab. I'd rather die taking their heavy than let them have it.

Yes. Sacrifice the heavy, so the enemy won't get it. I will wait, but if they come and my teammates much the other heavy, I take it and try to defend it as good as possible.
