So a week ago I joined a group on the forums that was looking for 2 for Oryx challenge, needed 1 Defender Titan. I was on my Warlock but they invited me anyway and shortly thereafter, got the Defender Titan we needed. However, when I joined the group I noticed they already had 2 other Titans. So I'm thinking "what do we need 3 Titans for?". Well upon further inspection the other 2 Titans were both running Strikers and didn't even have that subclass maxed out either. O_o So then I'm thinking, "do I really want to stay for this shitshow?". So I go about looking these guys up and notice they have double digit raid k/d's and I decide to stick it out. Obviously, we had a couple people join and bail out because they didn't think we were seriously trying to do the challenge. Eventually we get 6 and get going. Well come to find out Tether + Fist of Havoc = orbs for days. We wiped a couple times because we were getting synced up with each other but once we all got on the same page, completed the challenge with no incident. Might've taken 45 minutes at most including getting the group together and a couple wipes. Moral of the story: As long as you know what you're doing, there's always a way to contribute. Also, while some might scoff at the notion of PvE stats, your raid k/d says a lot about what kind of player you are. It may sound elitist but just think about that the next time you get kicked by someone with a 5.00 k/d.

  • But wiping makes raid kd completely irrelevant

  • To a degree. It is a noticeable difference when you raid with a bunch of people with 10+ raid k/d's as opposed to people who are under that number. You still end up wiping, depending on what you're doing, but not nearly as often. In my experience, it's a much better way to distinguish groups than the old 315+, ToM/Spindle required nonsense.

  • I've never thought of looking at that before. I guess that makes me a decent raider (despite my low number of completions)!

I did 3 Oryx challenges in roughly 2 and a half hours using that method. Including the one where I was with 2 underleveled Strikers titans and only 2 of us were 315 or higher. I would be more willing to party up with someone who is 310 with a 10.0 than I would be with a 320 at 8.0. Edit: Based on stats, I would be willing to believe that you can handle yourself in the raid. I looked through your past raids as well and not just at your k/d. Typically in the top 3 of your team and rarely at the bottom. That's a good sign.

  • You'd be correct. I'm not the best in the world, but I'm perfectly competent.

I don't know if you saw my last edit but I checked your past raid completions as well. Normally you're in the top 3 performers of your team and rarely at the bottom. That's a good sign as well. It takes a little more time to check these things out but it certainly gives me better information than 320 does.

  • If all Guardians were as measured and reasonable as you, I'd LFG a lot more often. As you can see, I've actually entered King's Fall 34 times (took us a while to get the hang of it and have had a few late night ones where we've called it a night at Oryx). All of the completions after the first one on hard (second overall) were silky smooth after that.

  • I never use LFG anymore. Their requirements are stupid and you never know what you're getting. With the recruitment forums here, you can quickly check out the people who's posts you're interested in before you decide to message them for invites. Has worked like a charm for me the past couple weeks.

  • To be fair, tether+ any super other than bladedancer = lots of orbs.

  • Hammer of Sol is equally as bad at producing orbs as Bladedancer. Stormtrance isn't much better.

  • After that experience I would rather have a Fist of Havoc than HoS. More reliable for more orbs, in my opinion. Without Light Beyond Nemesis on it never seems like I produce max orbs with Stormtrance either. Maybe because I can't see them all or I'm not reading the kill feed fast enough.
