You DO all realize that Bungie is still part of Activision, right?
The public face may have changed, but the horrendous decision-makers haven't.
Don't expect much to change in the way things are done creatively or content-wise.

Honestly activision aren't all that bad, after all they brought us two of the biggest games in history. The lacking party in this situation is bungie, no question, there's simply no point in passing blame where it isn't deserved, it's bungies game, and they have full responsibility for it, if it turns out shit it's their fault.

Bungie is NOT part of Activision. Bungie are a development company and Activision are publishers, totally different entities.
-
Though the fact does remain they are under contract with actuvision who is funding these projects. The original statenent was not entirely incorrect, though yes they are seperate entities bound by a contract......of blood.

If their logo is at the start of the game, you'd better believe they have the biggest say on development, no matter what. Bungie took their money, contracts were signed. Activision have f**ked over developers for less.

I don't disagree that the whole thing is a f*cking mess, but I don't blame just Activision. Bungie royally screwed up. When they originally signed the 10 yr deal with Activision for a LOT of money they made promises about what Destiny would be, promises they could not keep. Partly due to the fact that Activision forced them to support the 360 and PS3. Bungie had to develop their next gen game, but make sure it ran exactly the same on old 360 and PS3 hardware. So that's Activision being greedy, at the time they signed the contract 360 and PS3 had a much larger user base than the XBOne or PS4, so Activision wanted to cash in on the old gen users. It meant that Bungie had their hands tied and a LOT of the promises that were made originally (open worlds, remember the E3 clip telling use we could go anywhere we could see?) They then screwed up by deciding to completely re-write the story of the game and delayed the game for more than a year. This in turn also meant that Bungie did not release their game on Activision's schedule and did not get certain bonuses that were part of the original contract. They are now left in a position where the game is half of what it should have been, is almost unsupportable becuase the dev tools they are using are awful. They are already way behind Activisions schedule for where the game should be and they basically better get the next part right. This also means that 99% of the resources Bungie have is being deployed to create the next game, leaving only a handful of devs to "look after" Destiny. Why do you think High Moon Studios have been brought in to help Bungie's developemnet? Do you think Bungie wanted an external Dev coming into their game? No, that was Activisions call because they are not confident Bungie can deliver what is required. Anyway, rant over. I still love the game, I don't play as much as I used to, but I suppose that's only natural for a game that's now nearly 18 months old. I've probably put more hours into this game than any before it, and I'm sure if Bungie release some new good content, or the next game I'll be right back in there. I just want so much more. Please Bungie, Activision and High Moon Studios, make the next game what D1 should have been and then some!
