You are logically inconsistent, you use national debt as a measuring stick to knock one President. And you totally ignore national debt as a measuring stick when it comes to our current president and presidential candidate. National debt is literally the ONE factor you cite in knocking Reagan, yet you totally ignore national debt in regards to Sanders and Obama. You are inconsistent and biased

  • Croat Sanders has not been president yet. Also common knowledge republicans love to spend money as much as democrats. They just spend it on their corporate backers. Though the democrats are slipping down slop lately so I think we need a third option.

  • Sanders is not President yet, but as Senator he has done nothing to balance our budget whether it was voting for legislation that cuts spending or proposing budgetary restraint of his own. Also, according to many impartial fiscal policy reviews, his policies would add to our national debt at a considerable rate.

As I pointed out, the massive increase in the deficit began at the end of the Bush administration, and then reversed during the Obama administration. Obama was not responsible for the crisis but nor did he achieve any meaningful change. You're just repeating yourself. If you're not going to address my point I see no reason to debate you.

  • You are trying to put words in his mouth. He didn't say a word about Obama or sanders. He is discussing Reagan, and he's 100% right about Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan was an actor, a celebrity. We have another one of those right now who wants to be president. Please learn from your past mistakes America.

  • In 1986 Libya killed Americans . Ronald Reagan bombed their leaders house. Libya was quiet for the next 25 years. Then somebody apologized. So vis pacem parabellum.

  • True but we do not have the address of the people who attack us this time. That is the problem with non-state actors they are not in the phone book.

  • Yea he didn't mention Obama or Sanders, HOWEVER he knocked Reagan for something that Obama (in particular) and Sanders are both guilty of, and guilty of in a much larger way. He used NATIONAL DEBT to judge Reagan, yet he won't use NATIONAL DEBT to judge Obama. That's a double standard. Btw, Obama has incurred more national debt than EVERY past president combined.

  • My point is your calling him biased when you are trying to defend the man most responsible for destroying the American Dream by bringing up Obama and Sanders, which he didn't mention. Reagan was terrible, just because someone says that doesn't mean they don't also think Obama was terrible. All honesty I'm outside looking in, I live in Canada and from where I stand. Yeah, Obama wasn't a great president. I probably have different reasons for that, still agree though.

  • Reagan brought our economy out of horrible recession. His recovery wasn't at the anemic pace of 1-2% a year that Obama's presidency has brought us. Reagan grew the economy at 4-5% a year. Reagan's policies ushered in the largest expansion of private sector growth and his policies laid the foundation for the tech surge of the 90's. It's also no coincidence that the decade in which American influence and power was at its peak, was during Reagan's time in office. Hands down greatest president of the modern era.

Of course it was easy for Reagan to bring the economy out of recession - because wealth and income inequality were not as high at the time. He set us on that path. There was still a strong middle class to drive consumer spending. Now there is not. Much harder to orchestrate a recovery under the circumstances, especially with congress's voting records more divided than ever.

  • I was there and I remember what Reagan did. I actually lived it. It doesn't take much to repeat what a liberal professor taught you in a liberal arts college. If we are ever fortunate enough to have a president with the balls he had again in my lifetime I will be thankful. Doubt we will see it though. Too many of your like minded peers with voting privileges.
