EDIT:
And there we have it. Only took 9 comments for -godwinslaw!- to kick in. And before you down vote me or before you make a negative comment, remember that you're on the same side as that guy.
Since our economy became a global economy: Republican Presidents: 1. Bush 1.0: crippling economic depression at the end of his first term. 2. Bush 2.0: the worst economic depression since the Great Depression. Democratic Presidents: 1. Clinton: our strongest modern economy. 2. Obama: an economy that has recovered since the Bush 2.0 depression and rebounded in every significant way. And some people still think this is a coincidence. If you support any Republican candidate other than Rand Paul, and you are not a millionaire, you are voting against your own economic interests and will be responsible for the next economic depression should your candidate win.

  • Shhhh....don't tell this guy that Presidents have nothing to do with the economy, at least since 1913.

  • Yeah dude Obama's economy is flourishing. He's put us only $8 trillion more in debt than when he took office.

Clinton / Obama I don't think either one of those presidents declared war on anything other than your freedom.

  • The economy has recovered? The Dow is down 2100 points since Quantitative Easing ended.

obama is the worst president in modern times. talked smack about bush, blamed him for everything for two terms, then did everything bush did while somehow outspending every single president combined and trying to start a race war in this country at the same time. and i think its time we moved on past this having to have been born in america to be president but having said that dude wasnt born in hawaii. his own grandmother came out and said so. stop voting with your party dick and vote for the best person for the job. republicans are gay, democrats rule!...the only thing worse is voting based on skin tone or genitals.

Many of us Canadians are confused by the U.S. midterm elections. Consider, right now in America, corporate profits are at record highs, the country's adding 200,000 jobs per month, unemployment is below 6%, U.S. gross national product growth is the best of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries. The dollar is at its strongest levels in years, the stock market is near record highs, gasoline prices are falling, there's no inflation, interest rates are the lowest in 30 years, U.S. oil imports are declining, U.S. oil production is rapidly increasing, the deficit is rapidly declining, and the wealthy are still making astonishing amounts of money.

  • You are lucky to see this from an outside source. You get your information from Canadian news. Most of our citizens get their information from FOX. The worst news station in the history of the world. The only station, in fact, to be brought to court to be sued for lying. The Judge ruled them innocent because lying is not against the law, nor is having a strong opinion (news is about reporting events, not about telling people what they should be thinking) . What the -blam!-..... Most of my family falls into the category and hates Obama from deep within their bones. I have tried explain all of this too them. Anyways, so, everything you said is absolutely on point. Another thing is that 80% of Americans don't understand the difference between the deficit and the debt. They think since the debt keeps rising that we are spending more and more each year, when in fact, the debt still rises simply because we still have a deficit, however the deficit drops a few 100m a year. The first year Obama took office the deficit rose to 1 trillion. However those were not his numbers. They were, mostly, from the previous administration. We are currently at the same deficit numbers as Bush was when he left. But Americans can't see that. If we keep on the current path we should see a surplus in a few years. But, if basically any Republican gets voted in, that won't happen. Due, in part, to most of them wanting to invade every country in the world currently that contains any Muslim. You also forgot that everyone now has access to at least the basic forms of healthcare. What????

  • You forgot to mention that CNN, NBC, and all the other liberal medias are very biased, just as much as fox. They distort the truth to fit their agenda, just as fox does. It's called media bias. All the social medias nowadays have it.

  • Fair enough. Though, I don't watch CNN. I don't know anyone who watches CNN anymore. I do like NBC though. Not the Chris Mathews type of shit, but for local news. Our station is pretty good about just reporting and not being opinionated. Bias media should be outlawed. I want to hear what is happening, and I will judge for myself as one of the people. I actually get a lot of my news from BBC. An outside source is truly the only way to see whats really going on, sadly. Hell Al Jazeera, despite right wing nuts being afraid of the name...., is a pretty reliable source for global conflicts. Anytime I have ever tuned in I never once heard someone go one way or the other. They literally say "This got attacked today. The market did this. Australia is still afloat." Etc.

  • Did you just say no inflation? Where did you get that from? How could you even say that?

Well currently, in perspective of where I am at in the u.s. now and, considering this is from an article released on nov. 10 2014. I have not seen much increase in inflation. A cart full of groceries is still around $200, about the same as it was 4 or 5 years ago.

  • F that. I can overflow a cart for $150. Gotta spend smart, but still stay healthy!

  • Using that perspective I understand where you are coming from however that in no way means there is no inflation. Also, how can you really know based of of groceries? I'm not meaning to be an ass so please do not take it that way. I just know that inflation still is a large problem.

  • See most people refer to inflation in the stock market, which in no way affects the life of the citizen. However, buying a cart of groceries is something that does affect every american. If the economy was truly inflating, the price of those groceries would rise. See my point?

  • Reagan's economy was hands down our strongest economy by yearly growth in GDP. Clinton was actually a fiscal conservative, he cut taxes (rare for a democrat). Representing Clinton's policy as traditional democrat policy is misleading because he cut taxes and deregulated. I won't defend Bush, he overspent and added to our problem. Obama on the other hand has led the worst recovery of our economy ever! Yea we improved by 1-2% but we were at rock-bottom, we could only go up. Reagan took over in a similar situation to Obama, and our economy came back roaring. Low taxes and deregulation incentivizes business.

  • Clinton was actually a fiscal conservative? No the GOP had control of congress during Clinton’s reign. The president submits the budget but Congress controls the purse strings.

  • While your general points are valid you need to remember the majority of taxes come from the middle class. Which also happens to be the working class. Taxing that bracket further will cause severe consequences in unemployment, wages, and other economical standards. Healthcare and education for all is a great and admirable idea that everyone can get behind. But more details on where those finances are coming from and how need to ironed out.

Here's what Rand Paul would say if we had a third party system and he was able to: --blam!- Israel -In fact, -blam!- every other nation. Time to make it on your own. -Want to have an abortion? Go for it. -Want to have gay marriage? Go for it. -Government, get out of people's lives. -Let's close the massive loop holes the rich are exploiting, but let's make the playing field level and fair. Sadly, he will never be a viable presidential candidate because he has to pander to the far right. I don't like Hilary or Bernie. Especially Bernie. But they are better than the clown train of buffoons that the Republicans parade out in front of us. Trump, Cruz, Bush 3.0, etc. Any of those idiots will cripple the middle class again and tank the economy so their rich friends can get just a little bit richer.

  • Being a strict constructionist, I agree with almost everything Rand Paul says. Except his foreign policy. However, he has very little support. So, I'm voting for whoever runs against Hillary/Bernie.

  • I hear you man. I don't trust ANY of them. I'm not a republican or democrat. I don't want to be grouped or lumped into any of those sorry excuses of human beings. We need to remove them. I would trust you, a complete stranger, to run this government over ANY established politician. That's where I'm at. Grab a group of 10 random Americans and put them in a room and they would do better. I know the issues we have as a society. We can make life better. It's possible. But instead of working together they make it democrat vs republican. They focus on dividing. Aren't we the UNITED states?? We need to come together and argue and debate and form a plan that utilizes each beliefs strengths. Businesses do it. This is no different.
