Mida needs some tweaks

So imo mida at the moment is unbalanced and has pretty much 0 drawbacks/flaws. To start it's in a tier of scout that 4 shots to the head similar to voc tier but mida shoots faster so big advantage there in ttk. For some odd reason mida has a huge mag for a scout rifle at a wopping 21 bullets and on top of that it's base reload is maxed. Like in what way is a large clip with max reload balanced? You can just spam shots forever without having to reload its insane. There's no penalty for missing shots! On top of that because of a large mag and fast reload why would you ever use field scout or whatever the other perk is that's not lightweight. Then worst of all the mida without a doubt in my mind has high caliber rounds as a secret perk. Those high caliber rounds really make it so u can't compete with mida from long to mid range because your getting flinched like crazy. Also the zoom on midas scope is too close it's meant to be used at long range as a scout why is it so effective in mid and extended close range. I'd love to hear what everyone has to say supporting or arguing against my opinion please comment with something to add to discussion. Edit: a lot of ppl are touchy on the phrase op so i changed it. I'm enjoying the healthy discussion in here. Although there's still a lot of people just bashing my post because they love their mida. Also a lot of ppl are assuming I'm bad because I'm criticizing mida I just want the weapon to stop out performing other weps in there intended ranges where a scout shouldn't win. Midas strength should lie in it's actual exotic perk the extra mobility and hair trigger which equates to good strafing, getting to advantageous positions faster, and faster reactions. I don't understand why people are replying this because my post isn't about it but ill address it. the comment of "why are you just now complaining about mida and weren't last year?". The answer is easy in year 1 there was a much bigger issue of the 2 shot exotic handcannons that killed at scout range. Additionally I think the last weapon update was just in december? Correct me if thats wrong but the meta only recently set in so this is the most appropriate time to address mida. I know I'm not the only one thats experienced it but I've been in close quarters to mid range situations with a pulse or AR and midas high cal rounds cause my gun to kick up like crazy so I can't land shots but the mida's totally fine and continues to peg me. I don't understand in what world that makes sense for a scout rifle to out perform a mid or close range weapon in their intended ranges respectively isn't that the point of the weapon classes? Another comment I'd like to address is "wow if its so good why don't you just use it". The thing is destiny is a game filled with many guns that surely aren't meant to just be there as filler. They all should be viable choice in certain ranges/situations. I don't want to be forced into using 1 or a few select guns that are top tier just to be competitive and have a chance at winning I like to have fun using all the guns. After all isn't that what they're there for? I'm going to add suggested changes so people aren't so scared of a nerf. I suggest: mida's mag reduced to around 15 or the reload is cut in half mida's secret hcr are removed and replace quickdraw or field scout on the midas perk tree with hcr increase the zoom slightly on midas scope to make it more of a long range weapon and to not perform so well in closer gun fights. Thanks for reading my post I hope to see more quality discussion and healthy debates.

          • You've generalized the gun which doesnt work, pve the gun is fine, its overused in pvp due to lack of other options, other guns have a faster TTK, mida is just a solid all round gun, does not have 1 ability that makes it OP in any way. Due to the distinct lack of maturity in the forums (which bungie do listen to they say) the game is getting ruined bit by bit, your post makes it sound like you want to help fix things but in actual fact your just adding to the problem.

As someone who doesn't use it I think it's fine... It's getting so much attention for the same reasons 1,000 yard stare and conspiracy theory is.. Everyone's using it.. It's a meta right now and something people will always have to deal with.. I got so sick of all theses changes I finally said f**k it I'm never putting the NLB down.. As long as I'm hitting my head shots I never have to worry what weapon he's using..;)

                      • I'm guessing you don't remember that thing they did with Scouts and Hand Cannons to separate them due to the overlapping of their rolls. Hand Cannons are designed to have less bullets and dominate at close to medium range, Scouts have more bullets and dominate at long to medium range. To this into perspective, I win a lot of close to medium range fights against a MIDA eight The Vanity. At long range, I lose. There's technically nothing wrong or unbalanced about MIDA. Yes, it has HCRs, but almost all Exotics have a hidden perk.

                        • Not a fanboy of Mida. I dont like it either. Its not an over powered weapon, I think its just a bit too good if that makes sense? Bungie just needs to reduce eithers its mag. Or reduce the effect of its secret perk. Make it so that other weapons have a chance to beat it rather than an auto rifle losing to it at close range.

The Inward Lamp and NL Shadow 701x also are High Rof scout rifles and come with 19-21 rounds in a mag, and can sometimes roll with HCR...

                                  • In a 1v1, mid-range contest of arms, the MIDA will win where the two players are the same skill, and start shooting at the same time. The impact of the MIDA, its aim assist, and its rate of fire for the type of gun it is make it very powerful. This is where the strength of the MIDA exists. But the gun has plenty of weaknesses. For example, at longer ranges, or closer ranges, the gun will be sub-optimal. Also, its biggest weakness, is its often overbearing aim assist. If you target a Guardian, and they're in close proximity to another, and their paths crossover, the MIDA's aim will become confused and switch targets, or fall between the two targets. So the shooter will have to fight the gun's aim assist. To address some of the things you say:
You can just spam shots forever without having to reload its insane.
If you haven't played with MIDA you'll know, no, you can't just spam shots. If you handle the weapon with precision, you'll do well. If you're all over the place, the gun will not compensate. It's my main weapon; I know this from experience. Games where I'm cool go well. Games where I'm flustered go very badly.
There's no penalty for missing shots!
Go against a Suros Regime or Monte Carlo at ideal range and miss shots. Tell me if you live through that. The correct answer is you don't. There's never a case where you're not penalized for missing, unless your opponent has terrible aim or at a large enough level disadvantage.
On top of that because of a large mag and fast reload why would you ever use field scout or whatever the other perk is that's not lightweight.
Lightweight is a great perk for PvP. Meanwhile, Field Scout is a great perk for PvE. Being able to have a larger pool of Ammo (which is what the perk affects, not the magazine size) helps plunge more bullets into the sponges out there. Quickdraw is then a great ability for more defensive players who'll need to quickly swap weapons to address changes in range. For example, when a Guardian charges you while sniping, you can switch into MIDA to quickly knock him/her off.
worst of all the mida without a doubt in my mind has high caliber rounds as a secret perk. Those high caliber rounds really make it so u can't compete with mida from long to mid range because your getting flinched like crazy.
Consider the gun's strengths. They rely on controlling a battle. If you don't control a battle, you die. How do you gain control? You disorient the Guardian. This goes back to your previous statement, if you miss your shots, you don't disorient, and you're punished by a hard scope.
Also the zoom on midas scope is too close it's meant to be used at long range as a scout why is it so effective in mid and extended close range.
The MIDA's scope is ideal for mid range. Move out of that range and you're going to get wrecked by TLW or a shotgun. Move back and you're going to get out matched by 1KYS. In my experience, the MIDA is very sensitive to range. The scope helps you address snipers, but by no means will out-match them. And at extended close range, the scope severely restricts your visual field, making it difficult to track smart-moving Guardians. The problem here is not the MIDA, it's your perception of the gun. Without a doubt it is extremely powerful, but it does have its flaws. Learn to exploit those flaws and you'll quickly see it's just another weapon.

The majority of the comments congratulated him for using a different gun other than a hand cannon. Oh how times have changed... The last extremity hits over 70 per headshot and mine has the health regeneration perk. Does it need tweaking? Nope, because nobody uses it in crucible. Popularity= cries for nerf...

It's the other weapons that need touching up instead of constant nerfs because they nerf something too much and have to nerf more things to make things so called "balanced".

I am so sick of this "meta" talk. I played in a round last night and out of the 12 people there was 9 different guns! That is way more variety than at any point year 1. Pulse are still here and great, several ar will be in every round, several different scouts get used, several different HC.
