Edit 9: 600 and we've been visited by Nike! Spent a few matches in Rift today just to get a feel for it. Everyone in the lobby had more than 20 kills and it was a slobber-knocker. THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME!

1 ReplyNaw....I'll be playing Witcher 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Star Wars Battlefront instead. Rift is boring af. I'll be putting Destiny on hiatus until Bungie gets their $#!t together. Final Fantasy XV is another title that will be taking my gametime later this year.

Didn't know what Rift even was really about. Tried it once and walked away with a .25 for my efforts. Nope, skipping this IB! Can't do it. Can't take the chance on dropping my slowly rising (.85 :( ), scrub level k/d. Just 24 hours ago I added to the negativity of it being introduced into IB on the forums. Umm... yeah. Decided I better watch some youtube videos on how Rift is done. You know, just in case a friend catches me off guard when I'm bored and jumps me into one of the IB matches (how it happened the only time I stepped into a Rift match). Obviously wasn't IB, but he knew I didn't like Crucible and did it anyway. Some of those vids looked kind of fun. Damn. I may just have to give it a shot. :)

The point is just because there is exclusive armour and weapons that people want, it doesn't give Bungie the right to piss us off in the process. IB only needed to return to control which is what the majority are happy with, add the rewards that they dealt out when it was clash which the majority was very happy with and then remove as much latency as possible which will make the majority happy. Bungie and any company for that matter will never make everyone happy, its impossible, everyone has different opinion which should be respected, however that doesn't they can't make the majority of people happy, which they just don't do, they got some mega praise from IB clash rewards, then they went and completely removed it all the next IB? However they got praised and thanked for returning it to control, abeit with some dumb maps included *cough* Cathedral of dusk *cough* ... Now they ain't learned their lesson and are moving it to a game mode that the majority DOES NOT LIKE. There are so many players out there that don't have clans that don't have mics that aren't solid pvp players that just simply won't be able to compete with teams that have communication, know each others game and will mercy them all the time, I expect to see tons and tons of mercy rules, so many blink MIDA shotgun runners and a lot of solo players carrying 5 medalions. It was the incorrect decision to choose rift as a game mode in a competitive pvp event, the backlash from the community is evidence of that, and the community are right to act that way. Bungie needs to stop thinking they are always right and the community is always wrong, worringly its more the other way around, 90% of the time the community is actually correct and Bungie go against it, there is nothing wrong with listening and following the advice of the people.

The thing that surprises me most about the Rift call, is how little it was thought out by Bungie. They haven't released anything of substance in months. The Forums have never been this riled up or angry, and that's saying something. The weapon balance was good, but not quite good enough. Sniping has gotten out of control. Nightfall has become stale and the rewards no longer worth working towards. PvP lag is at an all time high with some truly strange things happening in matches. And Bungie ran silent and ran deep for the Holidays for a month now. So you would think they would offer us the promise of more than just flower petals, and then to add insult to injury they decided to change this months IB to Rift. I'm still going to play, I still need stuff that I sadly can't get any other way right now. And I still very much love this game. I'm just starting to realize though that I love what this game could be, a whole lot more.

2 RepliesI'll play, Rift ain't so bad. I don't think its ideal for Iron Banana though, but that's the choice they made so thats the challenge in front of us. "You see a mousetrap, I see free cheese and a fecking challenge!"
