The reason people don't like SBMM has nothing to do with Skill. It is because the Peer2Peer system matches people regardless of geographic location. This can create horrible latency. If the system somehow could match based on skills and location it would be awesome, but since it can't people would rather have location based.

  • I get it man, and I agree!! I'm all for a good and close fight, becoming a better player, and all that!! But every bit of that goes right out the window when almost every match lags like crazy!! Where's the skill in trying to fight players that teleport around more than the Taken do? Where's the skill in someone making a headshot kill on you that you both know should have been impossible!? If Bungie had dedicated servers then SBMM would be fine... SMH but they don't and I don't think they care either

  • The ones that get it are far and few and getting victimise by the countless brainless idiots on these forums! Anybody with half a brain knows this is a terrible idea.

You have no information regarding how the matchmaking algorithm chooses players because you don't work for bungie (I don't either), so your statement is based on nothing other than confirmation bias. I think it's highly unlikely that it completely ignores connection given there is an ability to report players for "bad connections" specifically to improve the matching experience. That said algorithm likely weights skill above connection seems reasonable however. But it's influence on how and how often we experience latency in the crucible is something we can only speculate on given the available information.

  • Get your head out of bungies ass and stop pretending everything is ok. The new system is shit, crucible is a f**king lag fest.

  • Heh, I'm hardly a vocal proponent of how things have been handled by Bungie as my posting history will illustrate. My comment only addresses the fact that people are making a bunch of assumptions based on no information. And that means their opinions are borderline useless. Misplaced ad hominem attacks only further reduce the value of your reply.

  • People are making assumptions based on their experience in the last 3 weeks playing that shit poor crucible and now we know why, the new system favours skill based matchmaking over location and in a peer2peer system, it's a bad idea.
People are making assumptions based on their experience in the last 3 weeks playing that shit poor crucible
That is practically the definition of confirmation bias, as not everyone has had said poor experience. And that's my point.

  • Not everybody has to experience the lag for the system to be a bad one. It's just too much of a coincidence a huge number of players are experiencing terrible lag since the implementation of this stupid system.

Did you use your Jump To Conclusions mat to figure that out? Please do yourself a favor and look up what confirmation bias means.
