I don't think a £45 server will hold hundreds of thousands of players.

A dedicated server will host less users than their current setup. Most likely they would have multiple virtual servers running on one frame or use blades. We have a blade center that holds 10 blade servers and it was ~80G. They are not cheap by any means. Unless you are running apache web server on an old desktop.
