My son is 10 years old and a very good Destiny player. When he finally got to level 295 through PVP and grinding, I took him with me to find a raid group for Oryx. I told him to mute his mic so that others wouldn't hear him so that he could "focus on learning the raid". I told the others in the group that his mic didn't work but he could hear everyone and we were in the same room.
He struggled a little with the ship jumping section but followed instructions perfectly and we finished the raid with no real issue. (mostly kudos to the other AWESOME people we had with us!) We didn't even have our first wipe until Golg and only wiped once with the Sisters and Oryx.
After we were done, I told everyone that the other person we were playing with was only 10 then I let him unmute his mic to tell everyone in the group "thanks". Everyone was very surprised and very cool about it not to mention being able to play Destiny with my boy is a ton of fun and a great experience for him.

Good on you for helping your son like that
-
You made your child play Destiny?
child abuse
-
You are the reason destiny and other coop games are great. That was awesome
-
Pretty cool, actually

Edited by NC Grave: 1/21/2016 3:40:36 PMThats good parenting. Unlike all the others whos kids are dropping profanities left and right in idiotic vids they leave on youtube. Very nice.

You guys are close. It wasn't necessarily "protecting" him. I admit that even I will roll my eyes and start looking for the eject button when a kid is in the group. There is a an automatic judgment that I know gets passed to group members that are young and I wanted my son to be judged on his play skill first. This just seemed like a good idea at the time and when I explained why we were doing this to my son, he understood.
-
Good parenting? Sounded to me like he was ashamed of his son.
-
sounded like protecting to me. everyone knows how rude people can be to squeakers, I do it myself sometime
-
If he was ashamed of his son his son would be far away from him. Not playing destiny with him
-
I think it was more protecting his son. People are really mean to squeakers even if they're not annoying or bad
-
Looking forward to game with my son, but he is only 5 and likes it to shoot everything in transformers foc / wfc. Still amazed he coordinates so quickly :) he just cant reach all controles at once
-
I don't mind age, it's just the fact that I find a lot of squeakers I find are aholes
-
I dont have a problem playing with kids. I just dont like ppl who talk non stop - be it kids or adults. if they have skills or are willing to learn and get better and not destroy my ears - i will raid with them.

Sounds awesome

You give me hope for this species

Edited by ShadowFSN: 1/21/2016 3:21:13 AMI lost hope in humanity when we apparently agreed that we don't necessarily need laws against cannibalism, it is okay and legal to fu €k animals in 11 states in the U.S, to fire individuals from their jobs for being homosexual in 29 states, that in Massachusetts parents aren't liable for getting their babies drunk, to own a flamethrower in the U.S (yes....yes you can....kinda want one now), 19 states allow corporal punishment in schools, you are allowed to own a tank (well now rich people got something to waste money on), etc
This is only in the U.S, I did not include outside of the U.S
Edited by Pixelhak: 1/21/2016 2:37:16 PMWhy do you need a tank?..... ... To defend myself! Its a weird world

Cabal

I feel like buying a flamethrower now
-
Got welding equipment and a propane tank? >:D
-
Your child actually has respect for their parents. Most I played with were cursing back at his mom.

Sadly true

This.

Great story. I did a raid the other day with a dad and his 12 year old and 10 year old sons. I joined the two sons yesterday to complete the Golgoroth challenge and daughters.

My son is also 10 years old. I got him his own white Destiny Edition PS4 for Christmas so we could play together. I'm having so much fun playing with him and helping him level up so we can Raid together. He's so much better than me in Crucible!
